Scratch That...

To answer your question. I know it's old. Whole new system this fall. I try and keep that old card between 22 and 32 fps...as I'm building this. SO, you wouldn't need the latest and greatest to use this route. But I only get 22 to 32 FPS on East K3, with this setup I've got.

The one thing you don't want to do with this route is set the draw distance out to 5000 meters and go on a helicopter ride.

BTW those are your birch I'm adding in. Thanks.

I just ordered a new system ;), With an Intel Quad Core i7 2600K that ought to boost me up from my Intel E8400 Dual Core. 16Gigs, 3TB. W7 64bit. I've had a GTS450 Nvidia sitting around here since last fall, If that don't get it, all grab one of those new 500 Series thingamabobs.

This ole box will be home theater PC by the weeks end.:'(

Now I want a Nvida gtx 590

It's a beast...3gbps transfer on a hard drive with this Quad Core I7.....let me see it...... baby!

One more day.......backing up all my stuff on the home server tonight.

Probably ought to send all my 4gig memory chips back and exchange them for 8's. And let this thing run on fire.

For a 54 year old guy I know what Christmas is.

It took 17 hours to back up my local content..

and put it into cdp's for the new system on the home server.

One thing I noticed last week....Windows 7 64 updated itself to service pack 1.

And man, did that thing become a pig. Where I was running 4 to 5 gigs in ram, including the Windows Cache....I suddenly went to 8 gigs with mosly nothing left in ram most of the time, and Windows was Caching on the hard drive. I think service pack 1 unleashed Windows 7 64. So be forewarned.

That's the main reason for my upgrade. I think I'll put in a solid state drive and let windows Cache on that. I mean if it wants a 60 gig cache so be it.

My old processers were pegged at 100% utilized as I moved the content and didn't move off of it.

Does anybody know...??

I want to leave TS12 on this machine for backup purposes...and when I put in the new one that too for development.

So 2 computers in the same house with one copy of Trainz using the same Serial Number.

Can I do it?

I just thought it would be cool, now that this PC will be the processing PC to the Sony 52" Bravia on the home network.

To do a session on a 52" monitor...with the Bose Surround Sound System.

Can I do that?

Heck with a sweet sound system like that, crank it up and run an ore train and let that sound blast.

Back in the day 1960's...

SNAPSHOT: C&NW ore operations between Ishpeming an Escanaba with operations considered "small" compared with C&NW's Menominee ore operation. One ore train per day is operated between the two towns. The train is usually powered by four, 1,600 h.p. FM road switchers and has between 80 and 125 cars. LS&I provides all service to the mines, and makes up the Escanaba trains for C&NW in the yard at Ishpeming. Other trains on the Escanaba to Ishpeming line include passenger trains 209 and 214 (the Peninsula 040) and daily except Sunday freights 39 and 34. Extra freights are operated for timber and other needs. After the arrival of the C&NW ore train in Escanaba, the cars are moved to the Repubic area by the LS&I. Eastbound loaded ore trains leaving Ishpeming struggle to get their loaded 100 car train up the grade east of the Ishpeming depot. [LSIOR]
SNAPSHOT: The Soo Line serves two mines on the Marquette Iron Range, the TracyMine at Negaunee and the Champion Mine in Champion. Champion ore is a hematite and is blue-gray in color and is shipped in lump form or crushed. It is usually not mixed with other ores. Soo Line (former DSS&A) ore trains serve this mine directly from Marquette. Mine jobs from Tracy Mine bring ore to Hogan Ore Yard for the ore extra trains to Marquette. Road ore trains between Hogan Ore Yard and Marquette are "turn" trains which turn at Marquette. Trains from Champion to Marquette are individual, with a different crew called at Marquette to return the train to Champion. Trains typically handle 60 cars, and are powered by 2 EMD GP-9's or 2 Baldwin 1,600 C+C road switchers. Trains are limited to 25 MPH loaded, and 30 MPH empty. During runs to Marquette, all retainers are set in the high pressure positio because ofthe 2% to 2.67% descending grades west of the Marquette ore dock. [LSIOR]
SNAPSHOT: There are four yards in the Lake Superior & Ishpeming's Eagle Mills-Republic Mine district. Eagle Mills Yard is used for the distribution of empties to the mines and for road train assembly. Harris Yard at Negaunee is used for overflow for empty ore cards if Eagle Mills Yard cannot handle them. Euclid Yard at Ishpeming is used for interchanging ore with the C&NW Railway. Humboldt Yard is used for handling the switching of ore cars at the Humboldt and Republic Mines. [LSIOR]
The LS&I operates an all-rail movement of ore and pellets from Eagle Mills to either Eben Jct. (Soo Line connection) or Little Lake (C&NW connection) during the closing of the shipping season. These cars are taken to Chicago via the Soo Line or C&NW. [LSIOR]

Now I just need to track down these locations....something tells me that old CNW Soo line contained the Champion Mine.

1949......

The LS&I acquires 1/2 interest in the C&NW Michigamme Branch from Copps Spur through duncan to Martin's Landing, a distance of 10.6 miles. Construction begins on tracks to Humboldt and Republic Mines, completed in 1952. [MRC-10/1987]

Say good bye to the Pasty Pillsbury Plant it's gotta move

1956
Celotex Corporation announces plans to build a new plant in L'Anse. The plant continues to exist today (2004) [RO]

1964

SNAPSHOT: The joint Soo Line/C&NW line between Eagle Mills and West Ishpeming is operated by Centralized Traffic Control (CTC). The line has up to 40 engine movements in a 24-horu period. There are also at least 6 C&NW trains and 4-12 Soo Line train or engine movements daily in the CTC territory. Plants operated on the LS&I include the Empire Mine, Pioneer Improvement Plant, Eagle Mills Pellet Plant, the Mather B Mine, the Tilden Mine, as well as the Republic and Humboldt Mines. [LSIOR]

This thing is a beast...

My screen resolution is set to 1920x1080p and I'm getting 185 FPS. 8 processors in this I-7 and 6 are parked when running this route.
