I little disappointing actually...

There is just no way to get that video to the hard drive as fast as that screen is drawn. I just recored driving from Herman to Ishpeming and it took an hour and the avi file all 40 of them were each 3.95 gigabytes. So 160 gigabytes has to be shrunk down to an mpeg file less the 2 gigabytes for Utube, there's a lot of missing bytes. Maybe I'll just try it at night.

New Video Card Comming.

Good videos

Thanks for your kind comments but my first attempt IMO was a complete disaster.

I put myresource monitor on while I was taping, the CPUs never hit 10%, and the harddrive more then 25% and I had 14gigs of unused memory, plus the motherboard allocated 3 gigs of memory for the card to use...so it had to have been the cards inabliity to process the data fast enough to render and write. Cause this pig wasn't even close to have been tapped out. IE every time I hit that fraps record button my frame rate would drop from the 100's to the 30's at best never got any more the 50. On top of that I had at least 20 to 30 windows open.

Soooo, good bye 3 day old Nvidia GTS450......Hello,Nvidia GTX560tTI, double the cuda cores 384, double the Ram 2gig, double the performance...$150.00 after the rebate tigerdirect. Be here tomorrow nite.

You are looking at an animated container crane, and an animated loging crane, Both by Arraial. Quite a few cool assets by this content creater...I went nuts on some of the items created by this author. These a just things a just had to have.

Looks pretty cool....Wish I could give that route a run...I got some nice stuff I could run on er :Y:

This is the kinda dock I was looking for...

Found this old one under track.

Need about 200 hundred anybody know where I can find a better one than a track spline.

Nice job....Could you do a story like this and show your shots and compare them to the real shots??
How about we do a history lesson instead. LS&I is a division of Cleveland Cliffs Minning Co. The sole survivor, mostly moving Ore to the docks.

Micosoft has that game.

So instead let's take it back to when this area in general was a Vital National Interest?

Where do you think all that steel came from for Pattons' 3rd Amored Tanks, for Nimitz's Aircraft Carriers and our two Fleets? Not to mention the Liberty Ships.

This area was on fire with activity, so were the Railroads, during that time into the post war boom a bunch of Junk to do here. So let's just put it back the way it was from history.....all the lines that are now most likely a snowmobile trail...or a utility easement....Put in the Fallen Flags....and play with the whole darn thing the way it was...FWIW.

You can have your Milwauke Road, DSS&A, SOO Line, C&NW, LS&I, CN, WC, E&LS, Mineral Range....Just for a short list. Heck Ford Motor Co. even had a Railroad, by Henry Ford Himself, cutting Timber up there.

That's the big picture of this route.

BTW... When I went with a 4 lines of track through Champion, MI. I later read that's the way it was. So it's staying that way.

No They stunk...

Good videos

I've got one comming up which I calibrate my $150 Nvidia Card. I think a 560 or 570 Nvida would have done this route maxed out trainz graphics. But the system I'm running now cost less then $1000 and I put it together by myself.

When those 560's or 570's come down, I'll pop one in my box...but I'm calibrating flat out...recording 1080p. It's going up on you tube 720p. I looked at the video first before I put it up? On my machine smooth as silk the last few minutes after I got done dicking arround with draw distance, and draw quality. It just don't show that clear in the video...but it's good none the less.

I'll post up here next what you can do with a Quad Core I7 and a $150 dollar video card....like...Mmmm....Blow up 2 million speed trees.

As it is, this route will not be finished for 2 years....by then any box will run this route, but right now...it's kinda special. My old computer won't even run the AVI files comming off Fraps from this machine...so I got to video down grade it for Utube, and my old computer to play on my 52" Sony TV.

But you will see, the future....next.

Don't say It can't be done, I remember those that thought the 8088 processor was the end of all things.

Well don't wait on pins and needles...

UTube says 592 minutes remaining....

Like 10 hours from now...ain't the internut wondeful.

The following instructions are in effect between November 15 and March 15 or when snow is above the rail.

1. Westward trains descending between Summit and L’Anse will have the retainer valves set to the high pressure position on loaded cars and low pressure or slow direct exhaust position on empty cars when tons per operative brake exceeds 60. Trains required to back down the grade between Summit and L’Anse or Morgan and Marquette will position the retainer valves as indicated above.

2. Trains are limited to 80 tons or less per operative brake between Summit and L’Anse and 90 tons or less per operative brake between Morgan and Marquette.

3. Four empty cars with cast iron shoes must be made up in every train operating between Summit and L’Anse when tons per operative brake exceeds 60.

5. When practicable, two units, or one with operative extended range dynamic brakes, must be used on every train operating between Summit and L’Anse. Engineers must attempt to pull the train through Herman (MP 9) and Bovine (MP 14.8) without releasing the air brakes. When unable to pull the train through these areas, the train must be stopped and the air brakes fully recharged before proceeding.

6. When conditions require, the train crew must use the locomotive or snow plow to clear the main track of snow before ascending or descending the grade.

Track Markers

Nice job....Could you do a story like this and show your shots and compare them to the real shots??

First things first; Track marks this is a massive route with many roads that used the same track over the years. So, track marks a layed out like this.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Where the Particular Branch starts..

That is also identified by the Road Name and the Their Branch Name.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This way once you become familiar with the map. It's really easy to set up a AI consist, C&NW and move it right down it's origional routing without stepping on another roads rails.

Keeping track of the track Marks is important.

For as you note here the C&NW also has a Republic Branch. But it starts in Clowry, MI...off the Michigamme Branch and routes through Champion, MI. Whereas LS&I Republic Branch routes through Humboldt, MI.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Fact is you would not know this line today...for the Soo and later C&NW had a National Mine branch up past the Empire Mine on shared track with the LS&I, through Partridge and on into Escanaba, MI. That's in this route too.
