The Passenger Station Loading Issues - Interesting find (creators and N3V take note)

Here is a new clue. For some time now I have been running a small test route with AJS stations that did exactly what they were meant to do. The train stopped, all the doors on the platform side opened, the passengers loaded and the train carried on to it's next destination. Today I thought I would try a different train on the same route, so changed the consist and everything was still ok. Then I thought, I don't know which layer the train is on. Went back to surveyor, deleted the whole consist, opened the layer tab and found it was on the route layer. Next I locked the route layer and changed to the session layer, replaced the passenger consist, went back into driver. Now the AJS stations do NOT work as they should. Went back to surveyor and merged the session layer to the route layer and ran the session again. No luck the AJS stations still do not work and as yet I have not found a way to get them working again. This makes me think that there is something in the layers function that is interfering with the operation of the AJS stations and possible other stations as well.

I've had trouble with Auran's own Stratford Ontario station which I use alot of. If you pull a 6-car passenger train into the station, the train stops in the correct position however it will move up, stop, load, move up, stop, and load each car like a freight train would loading coal hoppers at a mine. I replaced the station with James' stations and there is no problem at all with it.

So is this another variation on the same theme?

It sounds like the script for that station is telling GenericPassengerStation that it supports MassMovingLoad rather than MassStoppedLoad (or something like that). At least Bloodnok's stations do not suffer from that issue.

This is probably off topic to what is being discussed, but it is about passengers and stations, so I am going to ask anyway. On some of my routes, when I pull a passenger train into the station, the station takes control of the train for say 20 seconds, the doors open, and passenger disappear from the platform. I am running a new route now, the Maine Central RR route, and when I pull into the station, sometimes the Cab control just disappears for a second, and then instantly returns. The passengers do disappear, but the doors don't open at all, or not long enough to see them opening. Now I added the passenger loading rule in driver control, and when driving to the station, I can stop at the station and manually open doors, and give it 30 seconds to load passengers, and it all works. What I am wondering is why won't it do it automatically on this route, forcing me to have to do it manually?

That is interesting to know, and N3V may want to know about that one as well to assist in the fixing of the problem.

Hi Shane,

Iv'e had no luck trying to get the AJS stations working again. They started to work after I replaced my "local" folder from a backup, but it now seems like they stop working if you do any editing of the session or route. Maybe not just the layers.

That is possible. At the moment, N3V should be looking into the issue and hopefully releasing a fix into their next patch(es).

I have a sneaking feeling that a patch or patches will not be forthcoming, just like the sound distortion issue in TRS2006 which manifested itself with certain Sound Blaster cards was never properly resolved. It seems to be a habit of game developers to release a half-baked "new" version and then leave the "punters" to fend for themselves. That's not an unfair criticism of TS12 as, personally, I think Trainz Classics 3 has been the most reliable, best version of the lot, once you got the hang of changing the enginespec data to make the locomotives behave properly!
