The mystery of the decreasing ...

To be fair, reading that whole long rambling post, it reminded me of how I remember when I was having a mental breakdown... If you haven't already cascaderailroad, please see a professional. And I don't mean that in a nasty way.
As for people who are in denial and think that they have no faults, they decieve themselves. Some of the sickest persons are the ones who deny it, and profess that they are not "mental". Some of the most brillant people in history have been walking a knife edge between mental breakdown; and being a geniuss. Me not being a total genius, I do however, and allways have known that I have faults. And a Shrink would recommend that I give up Trainz. And foremost I can not afford medical expences.

Somehow seeing a "Shrink" wouldn't correct my CMP Updates, PC problems, and DLS problems.

Ultimately though, if CMP is not showing all the assets, sometimes repairing the database is the best option (that does mean deleting assets.tdx and assets.bku (TRS2006 only) then go into Trainz for it to re-create the files - it will take a while to load though.

Once this is done, loading CMP should then trigger an 'Updating Trainz Asset Database' box - wait for this to disappear before using CMP.

That was the most helpfull advice.

Now if you delete the contents of the assts tdx and bku files, leaving the assets tdx and bku files empty, but the empty file folders intact ... is that what you are describing ?

Or do you completely send the assets tdx and bku files to the recycle bin...files and all ? And let the CMP create its own new assets tdx and bku file folders ?

I could rename the assets tdx and bku files to be assets td, and assets bk, and save them in my documents just in case, and re-rename them back to their origiunal state if the Updating Asset Trainz Asset Database operation fails.

BTW: My local file has almost every freightcar and loco known to Canada and the US ... perhaps all this multitude of thousands of assets could be lost in a database repair ?

Send assets.tdx and assets.bku to the recycle bin. Trainz will recreate them.

(Don't worry - as long as the assets are in the local folder, the database repair should not affect them)

EDIT: You can move them to a different folder if you want to, it will still be the same.

yes by all means. i used to be 'down on myself' all the time too, and just eventually realized the power to change things was within myself. trying to place blame never led to anything but more frustration. i am by no means perfect, but i feel more confident and dont let problems no matter how large get me down, at least not more than a moment. there is always an answer to find.
