The General, a US Civil war locomotive

Microscale has a decal set for Civil War W&ARR cars also. It has a schematic to show the placement. Western & Atlantic is spelled out across the top. When I get a chance,I can send you a scan. Joe

Mth is all I can say. The cars that go with it were yellow, the ones that went with the Texas, dark green. Don't forget that trusty cannon car:hehe:

That would be great - thank you!

In the mean time; here's a set of Civil War-era water tanks. Hopefully, these will be on the DLS before the weekend....

querry to the Civil war era team

Hi

I found this of interest

http://southern.railfan.net/ties/1961/61-12/art.html

and more to the rememberance of why the "General" is so famous

http://www.burnsland.com/photos/chattanooga.shtml

and another spot of interest

Are further civil war era cannon, fortifications, ironclads, bombproofs, needed? for this I have numerous plans to build from, I am 90 percent complete on the rail mounted dictator from a long ago project, would this even be of use, or are you aiming for a more civil, civil war era?
Also, I can set up animated flags of any type desired, not just the stars and bars, as I have Soupys animated flag and pole that he gave me long ago to use as I will.

Sorry, I cannot be much help on wagons and such,, just have nothing on them in my library and looking at Pencils work, well, it is the mona lisa and I would look like a kindergardeners finger painting compared to that :D

just let me know what you can use,

OK, the water towers should be on the DLS late this evening / tomorrow (assuming they pass Alan's scrutiny).
Here's a WiP of the wood rick - it will refuel the locomotives, and takes just about a flat car of cordwood to restock. I'll probably do a covered version, also (just for fun.) Also shown is the next version of the passenger car, with a combine following. Both cars take Western passengers, and the combine also takes baggage. I'll try and get the cars on the beta page this week.

I'll leave the freight cars to someone else - I just don't have the ambition to create a new set of bogeys right now (and I need to get back to finishing up that Porter)
And Mike, what are you trying to do, give me a big head? My wife thinks it's big enough, thank you very much! :D

I've seen the youtube video about the general and I can only say two things, one good and one bad.

1. The engine looks fantastic, great work.
2. Could you use a different whistle? I don't like the default one. It sounds kind of something that would be one a NG engine.

Yeah, finish up the Porter. And after that, maybe you should start on the St Paul & Pacific "Wm. Crooks" engine. The St. P. & P. coaches are nice, but we really need an engine to go with them. Look forward to those W&A coaches!

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Yesterday we suffered an (almost) direct hit from a lightning bolt. Wiped out both my wifes computer and mine. :'( All of my networking hardware is gone.

The GOOD news is that I always back up my work and I did NOT loose the mesh or anything else on the General. So the "fixes" on the General will need to be shelved until I replace my system. I will continue to monitor this thread, and will take notes when I can. All valid requests will be addressesd as soon as I can get to them.

I love viewing the screenshots. Takes away the pain from losing my system, but now I can't "play"! :'(

I will return!

Terry

Lightning!!!!

I know the feeling, I am still recovering data from a hurricane hit, from 2 years ago,,

Just wonderinf one thing, when finished, will the name board be editable?
there is one name in particular that would be so very appropriate to such a Locomotive,

Elvenor

Max made this era of railroading possible for us trainzer

Something for the General

A Dictator !

This was something I made long long ago, but there was not much interest in Civil war items back then so it just gathered dust on the hard drive,

Would there be interest now in her? If so, I would be willing to retexture the brute, add more corrected details and such, shadows, and get her ready. She was built based upon 4 photos of the dictator.
I am still looking for my Confederate rail Cannon, no luck yet.

The trucks look funny. This is what my o-scal looks like

http://www.railking1gauge.com/list4...non&rn=&cab=&goob=Search+with+Advanced+Search

Anyway, yeah I qould be interested. I can only say to work on those trucks.
Those trucks are close to the real thing,as I saw on the History channel. The pics you gave where there were cannons(similiar to ship cannons at the time) were mounted on flat cars and fired. The one he has is a mortar which shoots the round high up in the air to bombared a city/fort/town. So most of the force of the round being projected is sent back down to the bottom of the rail car. So thats why I think the wheels are like that.I could be wrong, but I do know they are completly different weapons.
Edit: I would have a use for it on my route.

The Dictator looks great, Mike! I think it would work well with the soldiers Mark released.

Terry, I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I hope you get everything up and running again with a minimum of cost and effort.
