Years ago the radio cracked to life at 3:00 AM, I head: "STOP STOP STOP EMERGENCY STOP STOP STOP", and in the distance there was heard an awful calamity ... Then moments later: "Hey Carknocker, did you used to have a brown car, parked down by the tracks" ?
When I arrived, the Foreman said: "OMG You shoulda' heard it, I thought the world was coming to an end, it was like an earthquake, sounded like a bomb went off, I thought they were coming right on through the back of the shop wall, I ran for my life, Wham ... I fell outa' my chair, and hit my head on the wall, and fell so hard that I think I broke my butt" !
My car was OK, but just a dozen feet away, while the midnight crew was shoving a long consist back into the yard, several dozen empty TTX flatcars, had picked a switch, and gone down two separate parallel tracks. The rails were twisted up 15' in the air, bent up like pretzels. TTX flatcars were everywhere, sticking up 15' in the air, in a climb over, zig zag, derailment.
Once they shoved a consist of G38 and G39 CR iron ore gennies down a two bit RR yard track ... When they derailed, there were several dozen of them all twisted up in an awful mess !
