Talk about a scam

jadebullet

might be back?
For those of you who have gotten the latest Trainz Newsletter, have any of you seen the ridiculous scam sale going on. We are on the doorstep of Auran dropping support, and DLS access for 06 and below, which comes in one month. So, boy was I a bit perturbed to notice that Auran is now holding some promotional sale of said programs, which hadn't been on the store for a while, despite the fact that they will be only able to run at about 1% of their full capacity in one month.

Nice business practice Auran. I can understand dropping support, I am against dropping of DLS access, but I really can't understand trying to dupe people into buying a game that won't work properly in a month. Seriously.

Is this what you are posting about?

Simulation 3 Pack
The Simulation 3 pack contains 3 exciting titles:
Trainz Driver
Ship Simulator 2006
Bus Driver

Two of the items are not trainz related... Trainz Driver was a stand alone.

Can you explain further?

Have fun,

BUS DRIVER SIMULATOR? REALLY?

In the July 30 Newsletter, Auran announced a clearance sale of old stock including TRS2004 for $4.95, TRS2006 CD Edition for $14.95 etc.

OK, so official support will end soon but at those prices, so what. If you never got them because they are from a time before you were interested in Trainz, now you can pick one up and see what all the fuss is about.

If they were going for full price then yeh, you would have cause to complain but they're almost giving them away. Yelling scam is a bit strong.

TC1&2 with the 06 ja files copied into it made for a nice running little sim to bad everyone was caught up in the lack of content in that series. Not sure what they did to it but TC was the smoothest running version I ever owned and will be supported for another year. You can still find Railwayz floating around that already has TC1&2 with 06 SP1 for about $20, Toys R Us had it not to long ago.

If that is the North American version of Driver, it has the full Marias route in it. Those ja files copy over into TC pretty well also. 04 is still a great sim on it's own and worth $5 all day long.

You can put together a nice useable sim pretty cheap. I may order a back up 04 at those prices since I use it the most these days.

I wonder if this rings any bells.

'Submitting messages that personally attack, insult, threaten, harass or are clearly disrespectful of the opinions of other participants. This means, if you are engaging in debates that involve challenging, questioning and disputing the opinions and views of others, you are required to do so in a civil manner and ensure that your messages are relevant and on-topic. This rule does not exclude messages that are critical or questioning. It does, however, require that you carefully consider the tone of language in such messages to ensure that they are civil.'

...ah...I have Ship Simulator 2006...

 ...however if I liked SS2006, I would now be into Ship Simulator 2008...and that would be the end of that.

I wonder if the service packs will be available for the Legacy editions of Trainz?

Not like you can use it without an FCT anyway, doesn't work at all for me without one, at least through CM3.2. Can still FTP manually though.

What does a FCT have to do with playing locally? I've used many different versions all without an active FCT at various times. The FCT only gives you quicker and more reliable access to the DLS.

Try thinking outside the box. TRS2004 at $4.95 + an FCT at $24.95 is still a bargain. Everyone bemoans the loss of access to the DLS, just buy an FCT and you have access.

All Auran are doing is removing FREE access to the DLS for versions no longer supported. If you begrudge $24.95 for a years access, your internet costs will be more than that.

An average everyday 2004 user can't access the DLS.
Buy a FCT, he can.

What changed?

And you recommend thinking outside the box.
