T:ANE (in development) screenshots...

Alrighty. I know this will be taken down but frankly I’ve had enough of this.

N3V's bullheaded approach to this simple problem is troubling

If this little issue about getting a loco’s colour is such a “simple fix” then surely that can wait. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but the team at N3V have kind of been in the middle of building an supposedly brand new simulator with a supposedly brand new engine, so I think they’d rather ensure that the game worked and didn’t come crashing down on users when they tried to load is far more important that the shade of blue an engine made or may not suit.

much to the chagrin of people like you

Funny, I don’t feel humiliated. Merely annoyed you’re making a big issue out of this.

we voice our opinions when a company steps out of line

So to you stepping out of line means not listening to a small percentage of users about an issue they have with a beta? Again, not sure if you noticed but they’ve been making a supposedly brand new game here.

Don't like it? Don't care.

This whole argument in a nutshell. Practice what you preach.

This is not about "rivet counting,"

Constantly complaining about a single item not meeting your visual expectations? Yeah, it’s rivet counting.

this is about glaring flaws that are clearly visible

So to are the arguments against your arguments. Both you and Zec have both supplied images that counter for both arguments. In the end it comes down to creators choice, and you see the result in front of you. Don’t like it? Don’t care.

N3V doesn't listen to the community as much as it should, if at all.

Given the constant complaining they get from a small group of users I can see why.

I'd like to know what insecurities you are referencing, as you so clearly know so much about me and my life.

Constantly complaining about a digitally-created, 3D virtual model of a train which isn’t even real, spending hours on internet forums trying to get sympathies from like-minded users and not getting the point that it isn’t real.

Please, do go on, I would like to know if I have missed something, and you so clearly have that answer that I'm apparently looking for.

The answer is simple… get over it.

Cue slamming door,
Tim

I will only give Zec credit for actually interacting with the community. The rest of N3V dont, and Tony is excluded in that matter. He only comes on every once in a blue moon for updates or to announce things. he barely ever helps with issues.
Wow, you're a bit out of touch with whats going on in the forums. Tony is on many times a day answering queries and helping out in the TANE forum, and Chris is quite busy adding interesting technical information and helping out at times also. Using "Once in a blue moon" and "barely" are just not true.

And from a technical point of view, that "color reflection" you speak of is called Radiosity and calculating that in real time with minimum performance hit in a scale such as a train simulator while still making sure it works with every single asset (which btw would require updating to the new engine`s shaders in order to support the color reflections in the first place) is nearly impossible with todays tech.
Some games like Battlefield can do it but their scale is nothing like Trainz`s.

what operating system are you running TANE on and are you using an SSD or a regular
Win8 and slow-speed HDD (5700 rpm)

ow does your PC handle all (reasonable, noticeable effects) at max?
All maxed out except Shadow quality, it is "High", draw distance (6500 m), and "tree details" (that i assume is for SpeedTree and worked in betas, but don't work at all in release) on normal..

Yes, i also obtain down to 6 fps on Kikstarter County route :)

P.S. have a look in Russian screenshot thread here - http://forum.trainzup.net/showthread.php?t=4111

T:ANE has awful performance. Same route, same objects: no frame drop in TS2010, barely got 25fps in T:ANE. PC specs in my signature. The only difference are the shadows and the water reflection. Everything else is as it was in TRS2004 :hehe:

This photo in my oppinion says it all

They were not able to make the sky & the sun different, therefore the sun shows as it is below the clouds...and the clouds above the sun....isn't this great? Oh an i see no shadows. Is that because they were deactivated?

Look, I understand you guys want to "attempt" realism, but the NKP, Pere Marquette, C&O, Erie were all owned by the same owners. The Van Sweringen brothers owned the NKP, Pere Marquette, C&O, and Erie as well as the plan book for all the railroads. Therefore all used mostly the same dark closely matte paint, which would not reflect the sky. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Sweringen_railroad_holdings The colors should look locomotive black not cartoon blue.

Alright, whether or not Pere Marquette had swinging bells or not, it shouldnt swing nearly all the way around like it does. There is literally no idle 1.wav file for the bell. Cant get a decent whistle recording of a C&O hooter? Are you kidding me, look at youtube there are plenty of High Quality Videos using it. All you guys at N3V would have had to do was ask for a sound file of the video, it aint hard, coulda contacted K&L Trainz just like ya did for the NKP Berk. The issue about the sounds and what not being reported til the end of development? Really, dont pull that. I reported it last year and no one acknowledged it so dont say it wasnt reported.

As for the espec, I wasnt referring to the garbage that is TANE. Im referring to TS12, a normal steam engine doesnt constantly blow the safety valve. Even in DCC the stupid safety constantly goes off and drowns out everything else. If it wasnt for the retarded DRM, everyone who bought DLC from you people could have modified their content and there wouldnt be any complaints. Now as for driving and firing appropriately, I do, and the stupid problem still persists so dont go claiming that as a user generated error.

Ya know, speaking of Gawpo50 and Hinton, why in the heck did N3V pay Gawpo for this route which is built just as poor as his N&W Appalachian Coal route. Inaccurate, poor frames, missing towns, Waterfalls in the middle of a flat river?????? Explain that. The route is trash and Im not the only one who thinks that, I know Im not the only one who has said that about it. Again, Stop making things if you cant get it right or even do a reasonable amount of research on the matter (Gawpo50). As well as people having to turn shadows, trees, water off just to barely run Hinton, thats poor optimization. While other routes run relatively fine. Oh and I know why you all hired gawpo, its because "There werent other decent routes to use". Bull, the DLS is full of excellent routes. I truely honestly hope TANE fails because its obviously not finished or optimized properly, you cant import content via the user data folder anymore because someone with a bright idea thought it would be good to change the format for importing unless its saved as a cdp. Do you all realise how much of a pain that is? I have close to 700,000 assets and if I were to get TANE (Which will never happen) it would be a pain to save it all to cdps and import it that way. Why change a system that already worked for so many versions before?

On another topic, Headlights. You tell me whats wrong with this pic. IMAGE REMOVED Other than the obvious saturation problem and the distance that he beams out. Which aint real. Another thing TANE has failed at.

I honestly dont see TANE as a big seller since its just TS12 graphics with enhancement settings. Who cares about that. I was expecting oh I dont know, Next Gen graphics. Not like TS2015 or Crosstie but something that doesnt resemble past trainz programs. Im done ranting, I just wish N3VRF4IL would learn from past mistakes, but I guess Trainz: A New Fury will have to do huh.

Most, If Not All, I agree with totally especially the importing crap and the horrendous error checking which with that in mind makes content backwards compatibility not fully true.....
A common person who has support Trainz with purchases throughout the years with saved backups of content from the DLS will absolutely cry when the experience based upon backwards compatibility their first database repair following importing content.
My impression is of T:ANE not of one I had during Beta after importing which I did very little in the Beta's.

C&O Hinton: I was so excited for this route till it becomes a playing screenshot......... Enough Said and why shot a dead horse.
Could I stay committed to making a big route like this - No, so I will give kudos for that effort.

Everyone wants N3V to fork out tons of money to offer them a SpeedTree SDK which I have many, many opinions and foreshadowed reasons why people are crying for this......
Well, I want a program that stops flipping messing with my installed content of previous versions, keeps the original location information, stops me from having to "Open For Edit" 131GB of Data whereas potentially can mess up the tags in TS12, and is pretty much automated for the consumer so they do not have to spend the next month setting up T:ANE......... Where is all the support for my thread on this? Think that's way more important than asking N3V to fork out 10's of thousands of dollars for a SpeedTree SDK for so many reasons I am staying far away from expressing.......

My rant ends now incomplete for many reasons.............. Heavily Debating If I am going to just burn T:ANE to disk and file away.......... The only way to use T:ANE moving forward is install your purchased Payware from other providers, fix it which will take you a good week to do, and start over from scratch on EVERYTHING ELSE and only utilize content specifically mentioned ERROR FREE in T:ANE. T:ANE basically obsoleted the DLS at this stage for a very very very long time........

You may find that the reason N3V don't have a Speedtree SDK is because they don't own the rights to do this - only IDV software do.

Those screenshots had most effects and enhancements turned to a low, most likely due to a rather incapable system. If one has a sturdy machine, they shouldn't have problems running a route with the proper settings and shaders enabled. T:ANE isn't exactly for the graphically-weak, which is why I've decided to hold off until I am comfortable with my new PC, waiting until Win10 comes out. Compare said screenshot to a photo from someone who's machine can handle a bit of ruggedness.

I'd say it was real if I was presented with this photo. Excellent photo by TRam__, of course ;)

Some impressive shots in the Russian forum, I particularly liked this one. Anyone know what trees these are? I need to replace all the Pofig trees in my routes in 12 before moving them TANE and these look similar.

That depends on route illumination settings and post-processing settings.
To set the luminosity range color settings of the route are used. It is possible to set overall luminosity greater with that color settings, used post-processing Convolution with the "Sharpen" filter and "Add" merger.

Hey TRam__,

where is the option to open that custom post processing window? Searched about an hour but sadly without result...
Really nice work there!

Cheers
