SW7 with Dynamics(?)

Most sources say they didn't have dynamic brakes, but there are a few pictures around that claim to be of SW7s with dynamic brakes.

They appear to be a box a top the sloped part of the hood, right in front of the center cab windows.

My guess is that they didn't come from EMD with them, but someone added them after delivery - hence the "They never did" and "here's a picture of one".

The rub of course is that while the SW7 in trainz appears to be a normal run of the mill SW series loco (that can stand in for almost any of the series) and does NOT have any evidence of dynamic brakes, they are in the config file anyway. :n:

So, anybody have any insight on this?

West Virginia Northern had an SW1200 dynamic equipped engine, rode behind it once years ago when they did some tourist runs in the mid 90s. Believe it was this way from the factory, don't know the disposition of the locomotive after assets of the railroad were dissolved just before the new millennium.

Cool i didn't know that, Adam did my SW1200 up in this scheme its over at Trainz Forge still i think ( But without the DB ).

Just what I needed ... a big fat box up front, blocking my 360 degree windshield view.

I agree! :D

The LVRR SW8s had dynamics if I remember correctly.

BINGO! http://www.anthraciterailroads.org/lvrrmodeler/Pups.htm

Hmmm... What to do, what to do. Model a "cap" to stick on there or remove the dynamics from the config....

I'm given to add the cap, espcially since I alread started a kitbash cab for this using Auran's GP control stand which of course has a handle for Dynamic Brakes. It's going to be hard to get it to fit right tho.
