Steamshots USA..Lets See Some Steam Shots..

Very well done Meow. Glad you see you using historical research to help create your routes. That's a big step up for you. Great job on both that and the route.

Top notch Normhart. Appalachian railroading at its best!

Dave

Thanks Dave! This was a fun little 1 hour session, I had never really explored the western end of the Appalachian route before so I placed one of K&L's A2's on the Pocahontas turntable and emptied the tender so I'd have the fun of topping her up. I placed 10 empty hoppers at the mine and two strings of loaded hoppers at the Pocahontas yard as well as a string of N&W cabooses on the caboose siding. Down the road I put wva-usa's Y-3 on the helper siding. Running the session I backed the A2 up the track to the mine and loaded hoppers and rolled on down to the yard.

At this point I went a little nuts and decided to play brakeman. I hopped off the locomotive at the main yard switch, waited for the final hopper to pass, flipped the switch and then hopped onto the last hopper as the train backed into the yard and coupled to the first string of 20 hoppers. I then walked down to the internal yard switch and repeated the process as the train pulled forward and backed up to couple to the remaining 20 hoppers. As the last hopper rolled out of the yard I hopped on the hopper and jumped off at the caboose siding switch then rode the hopper up to the caboose, uncoupled the remaining cabooses and rode the caboose out of Pocahontas with 1800 tons of coal.
That explains the kinda weird screenies looking at hoppers. :D As we passed the helper siding the Y-3 did a rolling coupling to the train. I ended the session at the western Bluefield Yard.

If I decide to work on the session more I'll probably add an AI iron ore train coming down from Mt. Sinai and K&L's Pocahontas passenger consist passing by. :)

The next session, this morning, dropped the helper engine and the A2 hauled the 50 car train to the Alliance Coal Breakers at Narrows over my new (and still under construction) Narrows New River Bridge. Another hour session but not quite as much fun.
