The screen flashing happens once the program is loaded now, but not as much after you do the following fix.

Go into the display options and set your program to match exactly what your monitor resolution is.

Now edit the trainzoptions.txt and add or change the following lines.

-width = xxxx
-height = yyyy

where xxxx and yyyy = your display resolution.

Do you have your content backed up?

If you do you can reimport it again using File_Import_ Content on the menu.

When importing your content, choose No to all when prompting about overwriting files. This might come up a couple of times.

When done go into Open for Edit, and select the content and commit it. You might want to do this in batches because there maybe a lot of content to commit.

You were expecting a 7Gb+ local folder to be scanned and indexed in a few seconds? How about waiting a bit? (like several hours).

Hi JC..

Been a long time..Did the display thing you suggested but it did not work in the last install..keeps dropping down to fit something like a 12' screen..lol.havent seen one of them in a long time..and about the local folder it won't even start to load..I know it will take some time to create the data base but I need it to see it first..

A 12" display... I used to fix those at one time. :) Got zapped too in the process because I caught my hand on the anode end of the tube!

When launching TS2010, ensure that you are running the program as an administrator. Right click on the short-cut and choose Compatibility. Check run as Administrator. This might help with keeping the display settings intact.

I have noticed a missing step in your instructions John - the correct order is:

1.Right click the Trainz shortcut.
2.Click Properties. (this is the step you omitted)
3.Click the Compatibility tab.
4.Click in the box labelled 'run this program as administrator', then click OK.

IMPORTANT INFO: (not shouting) This will only affect the current user account if using Windows 7 (and possibly Vista) - there is a button underneath the run as administrator box, which if clicked and the run as administrator box is ticked on this box, it will apply to all user accounts, not just the current user. (The button is labelled 'change settings for all users' and will trigger a UAC prompt on Vista and possibly 7).

There seems to be something missing here.
mrmom, if I read correctly, you re-installed train2010ee and then copied your old local(user data) folder into your new directory?
This won't work... I have just gone through this myself after building a new system.
Install 2010 as per but then you need to open content manager, go to file/import content and point it towards your backed up content(local/original etc). As you already know...this will take some time to do but that is the correct way.

Mart.

When you re-install trainz from your disk, there is an automaticly created "local'" folder. That local folder must be deleted first, so that you can copy (paste) your backup local folder in it's place. Then you must delete the assets.tdx & assets.bku (if there is the later in cashe or bin) and restart trainz an let it do its lengthly (tad) asset database rebuild. In TRS2006 it took my 46 Gb local folder @ 2-4 hours to copy over.

Favourites unchecked in menu and options? they will have been switched on again when you reinstalled.
If not that then run an extended database repair, will often need doing after you import a lot of content, if you have a massive amount then you may need to run the database repair a couple of times to get it all catalogued and stored in the right place or whatever Trainz does with it. Probably that was alll that needed doing in the first place

I now run the database repair every four days or so and have avoided having any problems since doing that.

@Shane,

Sorry I forgot a step, I was doing this from memory away from my regular computer where I have Trainz installed.

@MrMom,

As Malc says, try a database repair.

Good luck and stay cool if can!.

I have a question:

You know how in your "local file" an asset is encrypted with a strange undecypherable codes.

If you download a asset on two different PC's...are the local asset codes always the same code on both PC's ?

Or are the encrypted file codes randomly generated, and named, with no simularity on the 2 diffrent PC's ?

If I copy and pasted the items from inside my one PC's "local" file dirrectly inside my other PC's "local" file, would there be duplicate conflicting, same named files, with the same encrypted name, that were not he same asset at all...and would the cut & paste, write over the content, and wipe out the previous encryped local file asset ?

What I am saying is the: Joram-PRR-SD45 always the same encrypted file name, on everyones PC worldwide, or on both of my PC's ?
