new computer doesn't like Trainz

Finally splurged on a new Win11 computer. With all my Trainz installations on a separate drive, it was easy to just copy them in bulk to a new drive in the new computer.
Then the fun started. The older versions, TRS2004, TRS2006, TS2010 etc start up just fine. Even UTC still works.
But TANE SP4 has a strange Launcher

And TR19 and TRS22 just open a blank Window. It appears minimized in the upper left corner and if clicked on, goes full screen and white.

I checked the userdata-redirect-map in my C: user appdata local n3v games folder and it points to the new drive.
What else am I missing?

Not sure why it is happening, as my TRS19 and TRS22 are fine in Windows 11, but you might try a couple of things:
- RIght-click the launcher icon, choose properties, and select to "Run as Administrator"
- same thing again and under the compatibility tab select to Run it in compatibility mode for an earlier version of WIndows. There is also a compatibility troubleshooter on that tab.

Tried the compatibility and administrator gambit without success.
Them, not wanting to spend more time futzing around looking to obscure settings, I just reinstalled the app. Nice that the data is located elsewhere so that is safe. There was a momentary hiccup when my login wasn't being accepted but that was just a longer than expected delay. It eventually went through and we're back on the rails.

It sounds like something got munched and reinstalling fixed that. I had the same delay when I did my fresh install the other day. I had to completely reinstall Windows thanks to a hardware issue. My cat had disconnected an external drive, throwing the drive letters out of whack. I discovered the issue soon enough but even though I reset the drive letters back to normal, Windows 11 still had a fit and couldn't find my documents folder or other folders. No matter what solution I tried, and I mean I mixed multiple vials of different colored liquids together in an attempt to fix the problem to no avail, and the reinstall was the only solution.

There is likely a display or compatibility issue with the newer Trainz versions of Windows 11. First, ensure your graphics drivers are up to date, as this can sometimes cause display problems with newer versions of Trainz. Try running the game as an Administrator to avoid permission issues. Additionally, right-click the Trainz shortcut, go to "Properties," then to "Compatibility," and enable "Override high DPI scaling behavior" set to "Application." If the problem persists, delete the launcher cache found in C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\N3V Games\Trainz and try again. Lastly, running the launcher in compatibility mode for Windows 10 or 7 can sometimes resolve these kinds of issues.

What happened to the cat. 😟
