I remember somewhere it is possible to reduce the smoke emission from locos but cannot find it in TS12.
Any help will be appreciated.

Well start by open the config.txt with notebook and studying the smoke tags.
You can trial and error or wait for some to post examples smoke data.
also edit the smoke textures......clone backup ect.

That's because it isn't there.
Can only be done by editing the smoke containers in the individual configs, used to apparently be able to change the particle rate in ancient versions which would affect the smoke and anything else that used particles , think it was probably there as a performance setting for low spec PC's however that doesn't exist in any version I have ever used. At a guess it was in UTC and maybe 2004.
