Show Off Your Routes *Potential For Large Screenshots*

No progress yesterday as I was spending some time in Chicagoland. I've took the train on the line that I'm working on and found out some things have been updated that aren't captured on Google maps. At this station only, the traditional ped crossing signals are being replaced with the full size ped crossing signals. See post #3098 for what I mean.

We start with the traditional seasonal views:

What Metra station is that, HiawathaMR? I took a visit to the Rock Island district this summer and it looks quite similar to the Mokena, IL, station.

'Those are amazing screenshots mtldrm38!'
Thank you sir., I see you doing some amazing stuff with trainz2022?
Is this fictional route of Chicago area?
Dave =)

@Dartrider - This one is in Cary, IL. They torn down the station on one side of the tracks and moved it to the side of the highway. I've deicded to keep the station as-is as it looks better IMO. I also told you my line I'm making

-----------

@mtldrm38 - You are welcome :)

It is indeed done in TRS22 from the first beta version as it was stable enough to build routes in as I wanted to use the new surveyor 2.0.
As for the route it was supposed to be inspired by the real line but it isn't turning out that way... its slowly turning into the real thing with just the buildings being incorrect and a few of the tracks at downtown Chicago (and a few other places in general lol).

@doll01 - Looks like a good start. Can't wait to see more pics from your WIP route :)

@Dyratrast - Amazing pictures!

Wow really good. Also, looking on Google maps, there's a sign that saya "Do not cross tracks when flashing. Minimum fine $500 or 50 hours Community service." I guess they really are serious about people who Crossing while the lights flash

They are strict and if caught you'll get one of those if not both.

Couple years ago the train I was on was at the station stop in Crystal Lake with the front crossing active and two people crossed the tracks to catch the train. Because there was a police officer there he stopped them before they could get onto the train which resulted in the two missing their train so they had to either drive or wait for the next train. As the train was pulling out he took out his (what it appeared anyway) his ticket packet to issue them a ticket.

Wow, that's something. It's really not worth taking the risk. When I tried to catch my train for Seattle, the doors chimes was already sounding, so I did not took the risk and waited for the next train, and it was really cold, but the cold does not bother me

Even for an unfinished route EPA it looks amazing! :D

Thanks! At the moment, tracks, roads, and textures are basically 100%, but scenery is still nonexistent in most of the route (much like the area it's based off of, really).

This is my first real attempt at modeling a real route, and I must say, aside from a couple little things, I really like how it's turned out so far. "Little things" being, I built the entire route backwards and didn't realize until it was too late. What's south is north, and vice versa. But unless there's a way to fix that without starting the whole route over, it will have to stay that way.

The plan is, once the immediate area is done, I want to build the scenery out a ways, make the route as wide open and vast as Oklahoma and Kansas themselves. Then I want to expand on the BNSF and UP lines from Wellington, KS, at the real north end of the route. I'm planning a trip to Oklahoma City next month, and I intend to do a little detouring around the BNG for some research (and hopefully see them in action) along the way.

@Jdriver - For sure but most people don't want to wait which most of the times results in not-so-good ends... Right now Metra schedules aren't great with trains (especially on the weekends) as they are on their Cov19 schedules so if you missed the train the next one won't be for at least 2 hrs.

@EPA - Your welcome!
For a first time making a route from the real life it looks good! I started with Lone Pine Branch thinking it would've been an easy route. Lets just say it wasn't that easy as finding the buildings for the area
I've done that once when I made a route several years ago that went from the north to south to Florida (it was cringy back then in TRS2006 lol) and instead I built it the other way. Unfortunately as far as I'm aware there isn't a way to fix it without starting over. That would be a nice feature for N3V to add.

If you do go with the plan, can't wait to see the expansion of those lines that you mentioned if you are up to that task. Hope your trip goes well next month :D

Have fun with your trip to Oklahoma, and your Route that you are building sounds interesting......Sorry to hear about the North South East West problem you ran into......It also happened to me as well, but in another Comical way. You probably know, or maybe not, I am have this Trainz addition, Merging Routes whenever the opportunity presents itself, I just cannot not stop doing it!

PSST Don't tell anybody OK?

So I had these two routes back several years ago, and they were perfect to merge, only one minor issue when I went to do it......I found out instead of 2 parallel Routes long ways, (I thought they went in the same direction) it would become a Cross of some sort, or L Shaped when I finished the merge.....And I thought I was doing something wrong, but then I happened to bring up the Map Tool which showed correct North appearance of each Route.......I was so bummed out....To think I missed this important feature.

One other thought here:

I see you are running AMD Computer etc, how do like it with Trainz, how well does it handle Graphics, I have used AMD 30 years ago, but not since then.....

Everything works great! I still use an Nvidia graphics card that's not quite the newest model around, but with supply chain problems, scalpers, and crypto miners, it's almost impossible to go out and buy a new GPU without paying a huge markup and that's just something I don't want to do. I get great FPS in almost every game I play, Trainz included. Some more extremely detailed routes do bog it down a bit. But I also run Trainz 22 at Ultra settings, so your mileage may vary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jumping around the BNG route a little more. I've hit a bit of a milestone here in Braman, Oklahoma. It's the first town on the route to be built to (more or less) 100% completion. Sure, there's still a lot of landscaping left to do, and maybe some cars and people to liven it up a bit, but the city itself is done. The surrounding area... well... needs some work, to say the least. This is just a couple miles off the Kansas state line. The town doesn't look like it, but there's a casino here, just off I-35, that always draws big crowds from southern Kansas.

EPA, from those screenshots they remind me of the American Grain route (I think that's the name of it).
Look foward to more screenies :D
