Reskinning Josheh's GP30

Euphod,

I actually came across the rocket cow model. I was thinking to myself if anyone around here would have even remembered that one!

I did track down some stuff, the GP30 model, the GP60M, sw1500, and of course a bunch of other fun stuff. Some good some bad :p

Ah the good old times I remember the Rocket Cow!

As for your creations still being relevant... your sand tower has recently been upgraded for 2010, along with a small building and is on the DLS.

Over at trainzluvr, I downloaded a bunch of stuff that used the old style .exe installer and figured out that by using winzip, you could extract the files needed to get those assets into 2006 and above.

I also have that Robe Alco C636 that you created.... That would be awesome to have as a reskinable unit.....With a little modding, it would make a great C628/C630/C636

A search on the DLS brings up this listing:

You creations exist still and are in use......

So,You still exist? Wow. Thank you for your work. I love the method you use to give your models more depth. I would love some GP60M source files and maybe a complete model.

I still use your SW1500 Model. It still looks good after all these years and so does the RS1

Hehe, yes, I still exist :p

I'm a little embarrassed by some of my older works, especially some of the stuff way back from the release of the original Trainz game. I think some of the later stuff was starting to get decent though, but none of it stacks up to the sort of work I do now days. I did have one model I never actually released that I'd love to see someone take into trainz... --->

What version of max you guy's using these days??

backyard,
Oh man, the silly ways I use to map things in those days :p

n8phu,
I hope you mean that in a good way! ^_^

tycoonk4,
I'll think about it. The rest of the stuff I'll probably just throw the max files online somewhere, the flatcar is special though.

That is some excellent work, Josh. Amazing quality. :D ;) It is definitely worth getting in to Trainz for the community to enjoy. ;)

EDIT: Oh, about the 3ds Max question: Some of us use Blender. Some are all the way up to 3ds Max 9 or so (the very latest versions of Max do not have a Trainz exporter at this time). How ever, some of us still use gmax to make content (and gmax was based off of an old version of 3ds Max, you know). :p ;)

Regards.

I think it is 9 or 10. I'm not so sure as I am new to this.
Edit. The newest is 3ds Max 2011

Oh, that's a little bit of a bummer. I put up some old source files, but I can't do any clean up on them. The oldest version of 3dsmax I have to work with is 3dsmax 2009. That's at home. At work I only have 3dsmax 2011.

Just Wondering. Where will these files be so we can use them? I want to practice doing some basic things in Gmax. Like animating and exporting and placing attachment points.

The TrainzDev wiki has an exporter for 3ds Max 2008 available, but that appears to be the latest version. :'( You could try getting them in to gmax, but then you might lose any attachment points (e. g. smoke generators, and attachment points in rolling stock models) that are contained in the original models. ;)

Any way, you said that you put up some old source files. Where? :udrool: :p (Of course, I am patient enough to wait if you have not made them available yet. ;))

Thanks and regards.

I think I worked on that flatcar in Texas

I did have one model I never actually released that I'd love to see someone take into trainz... --->
That looks just like the flatcars I once helped railload while serving in the Army.
Nice of you to give the reskinning permissions presuming I read your post correctly.
Hope you are doing well.

n8phu,
I hope you mean that in a good way! ^_^

Indeed I do.

I'm using 3ds max 9... works like a champ...

I Thank You for taking your time to do this.... I can now proceed with the GP30 project and a few others I have been planning... (shhhh Secret)

As long as you save them in a 3ds format... Gmax and the previous versions of 3ds max will import them.

If you are talking exporting to a .im format... the trainz wiki has a a page here:

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Downloads

and this page may help:

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Max_Exporters

The latest exporter is for 3ds max 2008, but you can try it with 3ds max 2009.....

Mine was based off the F60GH 60FT Flatcar but finding details of the deck and sides was only out of pictures from the net where as yours looks spot on. Great job.
Cheers Mick.

Where did my horn go...?

 Ah, Come on Josh, pay attention to RRMods & JointedRail content on the Trainz Forums & if you like what you see, hang-out....!

Josh, I caught the platform car six or eight months ago, from some-forever absolutely obscure bird dog chase on the web...

I caught a chuckle as I felt so useless to be able to place this platform on Trainz!

I got several skins of Southeastern GP30's of my own that I'll so absolutely file-share if this thread continues...

To be continued!
