Removing The Glowing Compass in Driver?

DL Engineer
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't come across it. Is there a way to remove that compass when moving with the free roam camera so it's not in videos?
Thanks

My compass went dark long ago (and my eyes are much relieved for it)

I have been asking for a "compass toggle off" KB command button in surveyor and driver, but nothing gets done about it

Why it is so blinding yellow, and is not a subdued color, is beyond me ... I don't even see (nor miss) my compass (which is a totally ludicrous obtrusive invention in the first place), as it is redundant, as the mini map shows the compass, why not just eliminate it completely, or make it able to be "togged off" ?

TS12 has an option to toggle this off.

I wonder if that is because you refuse to use a newer version of the game? hmmm.

I don't have TS12, so I wouldn't know about this ... The only incentive I would have to buy TS12 is the NKP Berkshire ... as nothing in TS12 excites me at all.

Why would I want to make my routes non-backward compatable to TRS2006 users ? TRS2006 surveyor is easy to use, and is user friendly, where as TS10 has layers and all kinds of stuff to make surveyor complicated.

Getting back to the point: I sure am glad that I have my flaming 10m tall confounded blinding yellow boy scout compass to light my way, should I ever get lost in the dark woods.

If you've got TS12 SP1, it should be in the ingame options. I cannot remember off-hand whether it's under General Settings, Video Settings or Surveyor Settings.

I didn't want to debate the reasons you do or don't like TS12, they do not concern me. I was only pointing out that you can't say you have been asking for a feature for years if you choose to remain years in the past.

I Don't understand this. I have TS12 with all the latest patches and have never had problem updating. And I'm using a five year old computer with XP. If you install the patches, do an EDR, and do it with a lot of patience, you'll have no problems. I personally have found TRS2006 very touchy and could barely run a route without fatal errors happening all the time. TS12 is very stable.

You should know by now that some people just like to complain.

As for the compass, don't know why some people get so upset about it. When making a prototypical route, it sure is handy to know which direction I'm moving without having to place a lot of in games clues that only have to be removed later. Nothing like placing a lot of scenery towards the East when I thought I was going in another direction. It's a Surveyor feature, hardly a show stopper.

No issue with stability in TS12 HF4 either. upgrade without interfering with the process and it all goes smoothly.

Before a fight starts - short question: is it possible to delete dat thing in TS12SP0, maybe via trainzoptions or by deleting the texture files for that thing?

.
On a large Route build it can be very easy to become disorientated. The compass is essential, making transiting over several boards in the right direction so much easier. It also does other important thinks like showing the pivot point for camera placements. I also find it useful for marking tiny assets when larger ones need to be added in the vicinity after zooming out and the tiny asset cannot be seen (beer bottles!)

But returning to the OP, why, why, why does the compass (seemingly in some, but not all, versions) need to be in Driver?

If you get lost in Driver there’s always the Minimap (M) which shows your location, north up, with a built in NSEW rose if you’re in any doubt.
