Hello All,
I'm new here so If I've misplaced this thread I'm sorry.

I recently bought Railroad Simulator powered by Trainz 12 thinking it was in fact Trainz 12. Can someone tell me the differences, and why 1 would buy the RRSimulator? Also is their a multi-player mode in RRSim like their is in Trainz 12?

Thanks for any help
Tim

P.s. I'm buying Trainz 12 b/c I want to play in the MP Mode.

No difference, other than maybe the build number, it's just that third party suppliers sometimes change the packaging details, you may have problems obtaining patches for it depending on where you got it from.
.

Ok, I cant find the mutli player mode in the Railroad Simulator.. Is it not an option?

To find the multi-player sessions you have to look in the routes sessions, multi-player ones are marked as such, you probably need to download some multiplayer sessions from the DLS, think there is only one in TS12, I have no interest in multi-player, so haven't really bothered looking.

Ok so before I spend $$ on a box that says Trainz Simulator 12 theirs is no difference other then packaging correct?

Build number CAN be an issue because it affects patching. Steam's patching, for instance, isn't well-supported. I have no idea if patches are available for the Rail Simulator version you describe. However, I don't believe the RS incorporates any kind of DRM (unlike prior versions from Just Trains - they love that DRM stuff) so it's possible the build numbers might be the same or at least Auran/N3V has a patch for it. By contrast, Steam's mandatory DRM alters the program and, therefore, substantially affects how the program operates. As a result, any patches have to be built separately. In fact, the differences can be so great (although I'm not saying that's the case with TS12, I don't know) that such a version might have to be treated as an entirely separate product.

First thing;

Check your build number, see if there's a patch to get it to the latest build number.

After that, start the launcher and click on the Content button to open content manager. Left side, set the search filter for category = sessions. Type "multiplayer" in the keyword window, download all those sessions. Erase multiplayer and type "MP", see if there are more multiplayer sessions that don't actually say the word "multiplayer".

Once you have a bunch of multiplayer sessions installed, you can scan those to see if there are sessions in progress for you to join, or start the session to act as host for others to join.

At present;

The multiplayer community is slow starting, not many people playing it yet. I've only played three times, once with two other guys and twice with only one other player, so near as I can tell it hasn't really caught on yet.

I bought TS2010 from just trains as a digital download, although the title did not say "powered by". The just trains versionof 2010 is the same build number as the NV3 digital download.
