why do these sort of threads always endup with people getting agressively defensive over their choice of rail simulator. It's like you liking sneakers and me liking dress shoes. They both do the same thing, keep us from stubbing our toes.

Too bad RS comes with CAJON. NOT TEHACHAPI. :o

Edit: Seriously guys, try to at least get SOME reference as to what you're talking about before you open your mouths and blather on about things you don't know.

Then how do you learn?:o No offense taken. RS has done a nice job on the Cajon Route. I would have been much more excited if someone else made the route. In all fairness I just grabbed a shot from the thread Tehachapi thread because it reminded me of the RS environment in the Cajon route which is not fair. It would be nice for some route builder to build a similar route in each simulator to compare. I would imagine that I wouldn't be the only one interested in the results.

It could be an interesting test. Who can cram the most detail into a route until they hit a specific FPS

I agree. All this grumbling over something as _____ as a train simulator and this is the screenshot section, doesn't say anywhere RS pics prohibited. I have and enjoy them all. MSTS,TRS04,06,TC, and RS. I like the freedom of TRS but i do more creating than playing. I also like to just ride the rails over a nice big detailed route without my PC choking.

KRS.....

That looks amazingly good:eek:

Hummm.....

The real Tehachapi Route....

Trainz....

Interesting........

This is what Tehachapi Loop looks like in the spring. The rest of the year it is dry like the other picture you show, so both ways are correct, same goes for the cajon area. This whole area is part of the Mojave desert so it gets very dry in the summer. Less than 10-11" of rain annually. See my signature for a live picture taken in the spring.

I agree with RJL1993, that picture is incredibly realistic.

I do think it is somewhat incongruous though, to be showing KRS pics on a Trainz screenshot forum. Perhaps we could call a halt to this thread now, in view of Auran's precarious position of late.

Best wishes,
Padster

Yup cheers.

The best thing i like about rs is that if i wanted i can easily chagnge every thing to snow the roofs of buildings to the ground and track. And i can do this with out evan cracking a sweet lol with a few clicks of the mouse.

Pics to come later.

I noticed that a lot of the features they use in KRS are replicas of MSTS, even the HUD. Not surprising since KUJU was involved in both Sims. I wish Trainz would have incorporated the winter texture feature in there Sim. It would not have been that hard to do I would think, they would have had to had a seperate folder in each asset called winter maybe with the winter texture's in it that Trainz could have called up whenever a winter scene was called for. Just like they have for the night lights for instance.

As long as its kept clean and no bickering occurs then I don't see anything wrong with it. Evidently the Mods don't either or they would have said something. It simply gives Trainzers ideas on what can be accomplished in Trainz given all of the great assets we have to work with and the talented creators we have that can make almost anything that anyone desires.

I can"t help noticing that on that desert shot with the train the majority of the texture appears to be a photo applied as a texture, so it could hardly be anything else but photo realistic. However, when your eyes adjust to it, its like one of those "spot the ball" type pictures and you notice that the bush and tree in the right foreground are "3D" objects and very much less realistic.Re an earlier posters point about "I can"t imagine what RS will look like in 6 years time" - well presumably it will be 6 years more advanced , but then so of course will Trainz...except that Trainz has a 6 year head start.:p

One of the things that no-one has picked up and which I believe further enhances the quality of the RS pics is the skybox and daylight system.

The photos of the Tehachapi and Cajon routes demonstrate this rather well. The RS sky/environment always feels a lot bigger - sort of more airy. The TRS sky/environment, by contrast, always seems a bit more boxed-in.

It's all to do with the lighting. For me the RS environment looks like the real outdoors - whereas the TRS environment seems more like something created indoors which is pretending to be outdoors! (I'm sorry if that sounds daft!)

I know people have done some wonderful things with skies and backdrops, etc., but I think a lot could be achieved by enhancing the TRS environment.

I'd like to see some of this

KRS does a nice empty sky but can it do anything else?

Can we have some of this in KRS?
I know we do in trainz.

Grogstop -

When you say "Can we have some of this in KRS", exactly what is the "this"?

Do you mean, "can we have some moody sunsets"?

Perchpole
Exactly.
KRS has a nice open air look, but thats only one mood. I want to see a misty morning with a purple and pink sunrise with just a tad greenish blue. Trainz can achieve the open air look still despite less than perfect draw distance, and it can achieve other atmospheric moods that I have not seen in any other train sims including KRS.
Even though trainz's atmosphere may need some enhancements it is still hands down better than the rest for creating a mood via lighting, color, and atmosphere.

Sorry,@grogstop65 ...
...but Trainz has bad Skys. Not sharpness.

Only the Sky's from TrainZland (Roger Cabo) has very good skys for TRS.
And thats are Payware Addon.

In Kuju giv 'it a Enviroment (Sky) Blueprint....not a problem a vanilla sky or a Peach sky to generated.Or a real distanz fog or Mist.

greets ice
