Product Problem

No nothing open. I'm thinking of a uninstall/reinstall but if the problem is in my local folder I'll just carry it over with me.
I almost feel like throwing it in the bin as nothing I try or has been suggested works.
Oh well I'll sleep on it
Thanks for your continuing help
Cheers

Check your mail. The private message link top right of this page.
Been going through the posts again, 2 points.
1: Only wagons that already carry loads can have additional loads added to them, preferably of a similar kind. They have attachment points in their config file, non carriers do not.
2: Specifically which mins are causing the problem, names and kuids.
2.1: Run a virus scanner through the trainz folder, you may have caught a cold somewhere.

Today I deleted the entire locals folder (zipped it first) then deleted the Trainz files assets.tdx and assets.blu.
Started trainz and waited for the data base to be installed.
Built a test layout and using only the built in items found all worked fine.
(Also tested with a German Schenker log van which was one that reported Null Assets)
This test now rules out fault Windows files or other rubbish that might have been collected from other programs or the internet.

The problem now is to find which asset(s) is causing the problem.

Fran, I've sent you one off my " mins " interesting to see how it works on your game.

Zulu, I re installed but problem still there as I thought it would be carried forward via the local folder. I just don't know how to solve this one, I've deleted everything I've downloaded over past 7 days well before this trouble started and its not done anything !!!

In my post I mentioned that I zipped the locals folder then deleted the whole folder in Trainz. You reinstalled but from your post It seems as if you also reinstalled the local assets folder. Forgive if I have misread your post.

I use TRS2006 to download items from the DLS ,test items and the building of my new layout. TRS2009 is at present an irration so everything is tested and errors corrected in TRS2006 before porting it over to TRS2009.

your min

Was missing dependancies, the green arrows. Downloaded them.
Set it up on a bare board and ran it in a session, worked fine. I take it this was not working for you?

Hi Fran
I've just tried your " min " and it does not work, just get the same error message ?? Is it bin time for trainz ?
I would have thought someone from Auran might have been reading this saga and made some comment.
Thanks for trying.

Yes I back upped my local folder on external hard drive, re installed then copied local folder over the new basic one of the re install.
Nothing seems to solve this very annoying problem.

What Zulu did was
1: back up his local folder.
2: In content manager delete all non built in content. Delete assets files, in the trainz folder.
3: Let trainz rebuild its assets.
4: Run trainz with built in content only.
On your re-install did you apply SP1.

Yes I did the same thing and with only built in content ie as the game is delivered and of course everything worked fine, then I put my back up local file to replace the original and then deleted assests file waited for it to rebuild ( i have 29,000 in my local file, is this a lot or average ? ) and back came the problem.
SP1 is built into my version of trs2006.

You deleted everything downloaded since this problem began.
All these items have dependancies which come additional to the item.
Which according to my thinking will still be on your system.
You want to do a search in CMP for date installed, it will show todays date, click the down arrow to alter date as required.
Click the + sign and add missing dependancies. Press search.
Go through day by day and if you want to check what it is by looking in the asset details box.
R/click on each item and check what its dependancies are. Delete the ones which only have unknown location as to where its assets are. Some will have a mix of DLS and unknown they should be fine.
Long job but seems like the only way to get rid of this pain.

PJ,

Adding to Fran 1's Comments above, you could also try saving all the downloads each day in one CDP file, using the date as a file name, then delete all files for that day. Run the game after each deleted batch and keep going one day at a time. see if this helps.

Les.

Excellent idea Krupa, then it you would be able to locate and identify the item doing it that way.

I will do that in future, its good idea. Back to now, nothing showed up in date search for 18th-25th maybe this is because I've deleted them all ?
but on yesterdays 26th I got a hit of 49,654 !! now I did not download that much haha,
I think its showing me my local folder which I put back into the re installed game, as lots of stuff is up to three years old.
So I'm not really forward despite fantastic help mainly from Fran and Zulu. The thing is I still don't really know what has happened.. what is this Product Filter ? can I not go to it and repair it ? What are the possilble causes to make this appear ? if its a faulty asset and I've deleted all recent downloads where is it hiding ?
I wonder if Bill Gates has these problems

Thats what I meant about a download having additional assets/dependancies.
say you download a loco it comes with dependancies it needs to work in trainz. For eg: bogies/engine sound. you delete the loco but you still have the others in the local file even though you don't need them.

Try this, use CMP select installed date 26th, then the + sign then select faulty + sign again select locomotives. R/click and select all, r/click pack all into a CDP, finally r/click delete all.
Open trainz. Is the fault still there? If so its not in that catagory. NB.
Repeat the last + action selecting a different option then follow the r/clicks.
open trainz etc etc etc.
If no joy after using all options repeat using the missing dependancies option instead of Faulty.
Somewhere along the line the fault has to go (please). Then its been narrowed to a specific group.
Then you disect the group bit by bit until the fault goes.
This is similar to doing it day by day but as that options down the pan we'll try group by group.
Restore CDp's when they don't solve problem.
see reason for edit

I have sent to cdp every item that has missing dependencies this included locos, rolling stock, track etc etc absolutley everything and still the problem persists.
The only thing I've not sent is the various layouts themselves , should I do this one by one ?
This is really driving me mad its so intangible

PJ,
once copied to CDP did you delete them from content manager, commit changes then go into surveyor to check if the problem had been solved.
Both with faulty and missing dependancies content.
There's a trainz icon at the top of surveyor screen, it takes you straight into game, when you quit you go straight to content manager.
I take it the product filter gs+gsl didn't work?.

yes i deleted them once saved, I have not installed tour product filters yet as not quite sure how to do it, i sent you an email about it
Cheers
