Product Problem

@dzien50

I really think, that your problem is the same I had. Even if we are using different versions of the program.

Let me try to explain myself a little better. If the problem you meet with your industry assets like Multi Industry New or the industry enabled wagons is the same that I had, than the cause is a faulty asset. Maybe you recently downloaded additional product .cdps and one is defective. When opening the product list to edit the parameters of the wagons or the industry, the program lists all installed allowed product assets. If any one of the assets you have installed in this category is faulty, the whole list will stay empty and you get the error you described.

I will try to give you a step by step guide how to find the faulty asset. But mind, I am using TS2009 which has changed some of the terms. My TRS2006 is the german version which doesn't help us with the correct terms either. Nevertheless you should be able to follow my guide. If not, just ask again.

First you have to start the content manager. After opening it you must define a search in the activity panel on the left. Choose "Category" from the left dropdown menu and the term "Commodity" from the right. Maybe the term is "Products" in TRS2006. Afterwards add a second search phrase by clicking on the plus sign. The second search parameter should be "Location", "Local". This will give you a list of your installed products. Now add the third search parameter "Faulty".

When you don't get any assets listed now, then this is not the cause of your problem and I don't know how to help you. But I would expect, that you will find one or more assets by this search that have a fault.

If you are able to edit them, you might give it a try. If not, you should just delete them. When there are no faulty product assets left in your installation, your Multi Industry should work again as before.

Thanks that was great guide on what to do. I did it and there were no faulty items, I then took out the faulty search and checked every commodity and it did not show any with faults or missing etc, so although it seems the same problem you had the cause must be something else.
Thanks for trying

Yes I hope so otherwise its pretty useless as it is, I need a real computer wizzkid who understands what all these messages mean and can explain what Product filter is and where it is.
Cheers and thanks again

Now I understand why a reload of trs2006 still had the same problem because I had backed up the Locals folder and reloaded it .
I did download a couple of programs that why I was sure the problem lay in a bad DLL file.

Has anyone tried to disable all downloaded items {only products} in CMP .
If the problem goes away them enable a few at a time until the faulty one appears.
I will try that myself in a couple of days time.
I am also using TRS2009 and some products showed up an faulty, two I remember off hand were BI Fuels and Sheep.

I just tried it and it made no difference !
Just hope someone in the community knows what the "product Filter is and how to repair it otherwise its not much of a game

PJ,

Check out this thread :-

Is this is your problem. I was having the same problem. My solution involved bundling up all the DLS product I had downloaded by using the 'save to CDP' feature in Content Manager Plus (bundle about 50 at a time). After I had saved all product I then deleted same, I then disabled all builtin product. I then reversed the process enabling the builtin product and installed all the bundled CDP's one by one, going into the game after each install and checking until the culprit showed up. A long and tedious process but it worked out in the end. So far no more problems, fingers crossed.

Les.

Hi Les
Yes this seems to be the same problem. If you read my earlier remarks you will know I'm way out of my depth with computers.

I've looked on the cmp under commodities but don't appear to have that many and lots of obvious ones ( like coal, woodchips ) are not there.

I'm once again not doing it right, if you have the time could you give me an idiots walk through guide of what I should do.
Many thanks
Cheers

Open trainz, then content manager, on middle left you will see asset details, and search amongst others. open the search one, click on the arrow. Now in the open window you have options in a drop down list, select keywords, type in tarps or whatever Krupas suggestion was. Click search and on the right anything you have downloaded with tarps in its title should appear. Now open the asset details on the left and go through the list on the right. Click on the 1st one and in asset details it will say what it is. When you find the commodity that is we hope giving you grief right click on it and select delete. In theory your problem should be cured.

Some more thoughts.
The problem is not likely to be with built in content as there would have been posts on the Forum.
Look in the CMP for items downloaded (try Locally modified) from the date the problem appeared.
Click on the bar that says "date installed" and the list will be date order.
Unfortuantely I cannot find my faulty assets as the CMP rebuilt my data base so the dates are all current.

If the item(s) is found please post it to the forum.

This is very odd, I looked at all my products/commodoties and realised that 95% of them I do not use, so I took note of the few I do use and deleted them all just leaving the built in ones, but when I went back into surveyor the problem still existed !!! I do not understand this as I thought it would solve it and just show the built in stuff but no I'm still getting the error message.
I really don't know what to do from here ?

Almost Given Up

What more can I do ? I've deleted all non built in commodities and all items I've downloaded for past week, well before this trouble started and its still giving me error message and I cannot add any product to an industry track !!
Who can help me ?
Cheers

Lets be drastic delete the assets file and the assets.blu file and see if that works.
As a matter of interest what other programs did you load just prior to the problem. I loaded an opengl program just prior to getting the same problem as you. The same layout and assets work perfectly in TRS2009. So I wonder if it is still not a windowsxp problem

min track

Have you altered the config file for the min industry?
Zuluking mentions windows xp, I run that with SP2 so that should rule that out.
I think Zuluking meant the assets bku file, so check on that one.
Did you have that Tarps commodity that Krupa mentioned earlier?

Hi Fran & Zulu
No I've not altered any file and its every industry that does not have a fixed product that will not work.
I have already deleted/rebuilt the assets files
I have not downloaded any programmes, I only use that computer for Trainz and nothing else.
Anything I've downloaded from dls in past 7 days I have deleted, I have not downloaded any 3rd party content from other sites.
I did not have the " tarps " commodity

I am very frustrated !!!!!

Multi ind new. Just for the sake of it, locate it in CMP r/click+select delete. Once done r/click again+select download. it will then be on the LHS of screen under download, click start.
I'm just wondering if it's got corrupted and therefore wont accept products.

Further.... its every "min" type industry track where you can add any product you like so its got to be something thats would affect all of these.

Pre set industries ie woodchip loader/unloader are not affected and will still work, but of course I need the " mins " for the more unusual products

Cheers

Have you anything open for edit, top of CMP screen.
Apart from re-installing I'm starting to run dry on ideas at the moment.
There is no reason for the products not to appear especially the built in ones.
