Problems with Trainz Routes Cds volumes 1 and 2

Auto-Installed routes (from CDs) have no Sessions in Surveyor, and don`t show up in Driver.

I have the cd-bsed version of Trainz 2006, and these 2 cds auto-ran (and I thought they auto-installed correctly, according to your recent post about the correct-path.

After installation, none of the routes shows up in driver (in spite of my having set the Settings option (or auto-commit and auto-open) and re-started my PC, then Trainz 06.

When I went into the Surveyor module, I see all of the new routes correctly listed , some with photos, etc, but all of these list the number of Sessions (or maps ) as 0.

trying to open one of these gives an "Attempt to open a route without first specifying a map error.

Anyone (hopefully factory) see what hapened to me, is this because off the new (CD-based version of trainz2006, or something else (PS the settings has my user ID already, etc but I`ve never had this PC connected to the we at all, and was hoping to usethe cds insead...

any ideas?

It sounds like its working fine

I'm doing this away from my main computer so am having to rely on my memory.

The 2 CDs only hold routes, ie no scenarios. What you need to do is to open a route in surveyor, then add a train and some stock. Then save that as a scenario (you can do that by going for a quick drive using the quickdrive icon/driver on the top left menu and accepting save with the default scenario). Next time you can go into Driver and the scenario will be available.

I am also disappointed in this approach as I don't have the expertise to necessarily pick the right trains and rolling stock for the route. The Big-Boy looks a little out of place in 1950 England  . I've looked for scenarios on the DSS that relate to some of these routes without success.

Just realised you can't open a route. Anyone else got any ideas?

You should, indeed, be able to open a Route in Surveyor, and then add locos and rolling stock to suit. (You don't have to be a purist, unless you want to be - if you want to run Big Boy in 1950's England feel free!)

However, if the Routes aren't showing up in Surveyor, there are three possible reasons that I can think of:

1. The Routes haven't yet been "committed". Open Content Manager (often referred to on the forum as CMP) and open the "Search" Tab. From the left hand pull down menu, select "Open For Editing" and click "Apply". If you get a list of items appear, right click inside the icon area, choose "Select All" then right click again and select "Edit" "Commit". Next time you run Trainz, whatever was "Open For Editing" should show up.

(If they are "Routes" or "layouts" you will still need to set up at least one Session for each route in Surveyor to get them to show up in Driver though!)

2. Layouts might have Missing Dependencies. Once again, in CMP use the "Search" function but this time choose "Missing Dependencies". From each item listed, you can right click "View Dependencies" and that will show with a red icon if any are missing. You can then go through each item and right click "Download" or, if there are lots of Missing or Updated assets, close the dependencies dialogue box and right click the route again choosing "Download". When you click the "Download Helper" panel and click "Start", CMP automatically searches for all dependencies and updated assets.

3. It is possible the Routes have gone into a directory where TRS2006 can't find them - particularly if you used the awful Autorun feature Bill Gates provides in Windoze. If you know the name of one route on the CD's and its not showing in Content Manager as "Open For Editing" above, choose from the "Search Tab" "Name" and type the name of the route. If CMP can't find it, then my guess is that the routes are installed to the wrong directory and you might need to uninstall your new routes and start again.

Let us know how you get on and welcome to the forum! :)

No commiting needed or content searching everything is installed as "ja" files just add choo choo's and drive
