My route and session is greyed out in content manager: help please.

As I said, I think you need to update your new install to build 126273 to match the build your clone was produced on.

At home waiting for the little monsters to ring the door bell. I have my Jason hockey mask.
We got a grand total of 17 little monsters tonight, and only a couple of parents took a sample, so we have candy bars to spare.
No kids have come by tonight. All cold and rainy here.
I have always thought that the "Trick or Treat" aspect of Halloween (which we do not celebrate down here - but the stores are pushing the merchandise) to be the riskiest part of the whole enterprise.

In one of my all time favourite TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one of the "characters" remarked that Halloween was the one night of the year where the real ghouls, witches, vampires, etc stayed at home and did not dare venture out - it was "far too scary" he remarked.

Nobody, not even a mouse, came to my door in central Iowa tonight. I live in a senior apartment building with code-access outside doors. It is a semi-rural neighborhood that is sparsely populated along the road.

I think Halloween customs have largely died in modern American culture anyway. Yet, people still buy up candy at Walmart like no tomorrow and pig out at home. Children are now taught to be so lazy as to not even walk around and beg to fill the bag.

People are scared of the nuts who lace candy with razor blades and God knows what else. There are Amber alert paranoid junkies. Mostly middle-class mothers and Karen types driving SUV's and mommy vans. Fear of child abductors and pedos. Human innocence in America is sadly long dead. In California back in 2014/2015, I lived near an upper-class neighborhood in Folsom, California. Soccer-mom vans and SUV's loaded with little devils on Halloween night would come in and park out on the street. Mommy would escort the little fartfaces in masks all around door to door, flashlight in hand, and the vans would load up again and take off.

Well, by George, you are correct, Forester. :D

I downloaded and installed the RETAIL (non PE) Build 126273 version of TS 2022 on my fancy high-priced new gamer followed by a Content Store download of West From Denver. I next imported my cloned route/session of this via CDP and lo and behold, it is no longer GRAY! It now is even recognized by the Trainz launcher THIS TIME.

It is now clear. If I clone a route on a certain version of 2022, the clone has to be imported back into the same version. I can't clone something in (basic) RETAIL TS 2022 then later try to plug it into PREMIUM TS 2022, and perhaps not vice-versa, even though I purchased TS 2022 originally at the Premium price.

With respect to importing and accessing content, TS 2022 seems to act much differently than TANE or TS 2012 does.

It's like TS 2022 Retail and TS 2022 PE are two different versions of Trainz altogether.

This grayed-out clone mystery has now been unraveled. The curse has been lifted now that Halloween has passed.

Glad to hear it worked. I think the issue is that If you clone a route on a certain version of 2022, the clone has to be imported back into the same or a newer build version, it cannot be imported back to a previous build version.

MyTrainz/Product Downloads lists Build 126273 as the Retail edition, but when I downloaded it, installed it and opened the Trainz launcher to load a route or session for play, the "Precaching Content" window with the roundhouse is labeled "Platinum Edition" so go figure.

The new install of Trainz must be updated to 126273 for the clone to work, that seems to be the only problem with it.

Such a grey problem appears to me after exporting a route/session set from one installation to an other. In my case the the imported buile version number was 5.6 for route and session. After editing the configs to set it to 5.4 it went well.
My clone is build version 5.5 while the original West From Denver is 5.1.
May be a similar problem to you. While clones need their originals installed it could be that the clone has to have the same build version, not greater than the parent?

You can't change the build number down and expect the routes and sessions to load. There are changes in the higher build that are not recognized by the newer version including internal file changes. This may work for uncomplicated assets such as building but it definitely won't work for routes and sessions.

It was only an idea that may be working for assets.
Some assets. Keep in mind that as time has gone on more features have been added to the newer builds that are unknown in older versions. An asset that is build 5.6, for example, may contain new texture capabilities and downgrading this to build 3.7 will break it.

The reason is the asset is error checked to the build that is specified in the asset-version tag. If the asset-version tag is set to 3.7 from 5.6, then it'll fail because these new features are unknown at build 3.7.

It's not as clean and simple as you think.
