Problems with Trainz 12 tutorial

Hi all, I am new to Trainz and I have been using the tutorials in the sim to get used the controls. I am in the tutorial where you take some tank cars to the airport and part of the journey involves ascending a hill and using the dynamic brakes. I do all the steps to get the brakes working, I close the throttle, but it seems that the dynamic brakes don't ever kick in, because when I use the throttle to control braking, which the tutorial says to do, I speed up rather than slow down. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

If all the brakes are released and the throttle in 0 (zero position) and use the dynamic brake (C) only, you can control the loco for the brake if you throttle up 1-2-3 , its just practice, but you will used to it after several try. Indeed that part a little difficult because the gradient, when your train start to speed up, just put the throttle up, even in 4th position until its slowing down. With only the dynamic brake you should be able to slow down.

The problem is that all the train brakes are released and the throttle is in zero and I then switch on the dynamic brakes but they don't seem to ever start. Thus when I use the throttle to control the dynamic braking, it just speeds the train up so the dynamic braking is not starting for some reason.

Impossible.. The dynamic brake has effect on the locomotive only.. but still has enough power to stop the whole train. Put the throttle in the max (8) position, I can't believe its not slowing down your heavy train . The engine will works loudly , but you will slow down or even stop. But the dynamic brake only works if you use downhill.. I've finished all the tutorial long time ago, and on downhill I only use the dynamic brake. It works .. should work.

I guess this must be a bug because the dynamics are not working at all, just tried it again, and I had to resort ot using the train brake to slow the train down.

Just tried this for myself. Oddly, while the dynamic brake seems to work fine if you use the little sliders in the bottom right corner of the screen, it doesn't seem to work at all if you use the actual cab controls ... :(

Hi. I'm a newbie too and just completed the tutorials. I experienced the same thing CASOSub did, but I thought it was my unfamiliarity with the controls too. I used the train brake to stop most of the time. I'm looking forward to practicing some more. :) I think the keyboard controls will be more useful to me than the cab controls. I kept moving the mouse one way and the control seemed to go the other...
