Problems Downloading SP1

Glenethson

Some Might Say
When i try to download TRS2006 SP1 it freezes on 0% and goes 'not responding'. This happens everytime i try to do it.

Whats happening?

Cheers

I think you might be confusing "downloading" with "installing". Downloading is the process of copying the file from Just Trains to your computer over the Internet. As you have it on your desktop, that process seems to have started. However, it might not have completed. Right click the icon and check the file size.

Installing is the process of running the downloaded file on your computer so it extracts its contents and updates your copy of Trainz. It seems to be that process which is stalling at 0%.

The first number in the filename of the SP1 file you downloaded must agree precisely with your current build number. Can you check it does please.

Before installing SP1 you must uninstall and reinstall TRS2006 but not run it, not even once. Refer to the installation instructions for SP1 and be sure to follow them to the letter. The slightest deviation will cause the update to fail.

Sorry if I've misunderstood what's going on. BTW, you're not alone, a lot of people find installing SP1 a pain.

Not unless you make a backup copy of it before you uninstall, then restore it after installing SP1. If you search on this forum you should find some instructions for how to do each stage. This applies to anything you've created and also anything you've downloaded, i.e. anything beyond what comes built-in.

Glen,

The default download location for file downloads is the "Downloads" folder.

Go to the Start Menu,
Click on your Login-Name
An explorer window will open up
Browse for the "Downloads" folder. It has a bluish green icon on it, or at least mine does.

Remember to install the SP with administrator access. (Run as Administrator by right mouse button clicking on it and choosing Run as Administrator).

Hello

Also remember to disable any antivirus/spyware software or any other software running in the background before you install SP1.

Regards

Ahsan:)
