PC or Mac

My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I've searched to no avail.

My 7yo son wants a computer-based version of Trainz for Christmas. We have it on our iPad and he LOVES it, he has pretty much mastered it (I'm in awe watching his little hands moving around building worlds) and is itching to move on to the computer. We have a fairly new Mac which I'm planning to run windows on as well for my own reasons. He has a preference for modern freight trains.

So, my question is, should I buy him the new PC version or the Mac version? Would love some advice.

Thanks in advance!

PC Version. The Mac version is newer, and I guess by the threads I read here they haven't brought it as far along as the PC version.

Depends on how you are going to run Windows;
  • through bootcamp, buy the PC version,
  • through an emulator such as Parallels or Fusion, buy the Mac version.

My opinion- PC

THe Mac version has a lot of limitations(like the others said). I have not gotten the Multiplayer to work at ALL on the Mac version. I recommend TS12. It's the latest PC Trainz version,it has working multiplayer and it doesn't have a lot of limitations.

Some things TS12 has that Mac version doesn't-

-(Repeating this again) Working Multiplayer

-Ability to upload built routes onto the DLS

-Content Creator Plus(allows easy editing of locomotives(I.E- changing sounds))

NOTE: TS12 has different routes than TS:Mac, however TS:Mac has more routes built-in.

Hope this helps!
