Patching Failed: TS2010

Trainz tells me that there is a new patch avaliable, I let it download and the patcher comes up with this message:

Checking for available disk space for patching.

Downloading patch file...
Unpacking patch file...
Failed to extract the patch archive.
Patching aborted.

I am running TS2010 build 42203

Patch not working

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried it twice but with no success. I also have TS2010 42203.

Patching

I have exactly the same experience. I have version 41615 right now. After 3 tries I have given up. What's happening???

on the top of your patch start up window there a box with 3... in it click on that and send your patch to trs2010. right now it trying to send it to trs09.

Patchig ts2010

Hi I put the patch into the ts2010 bin folder, that's where the program application .exe is located, only mine found it with no problem but then got halfway thru and didn't complete due to having problems with the trainz.exe
then patching aborted, I tried this twice, downloaded a fresh copy but the same thing happened.

Why on earth are you putting the patch file inside the folder of the program it's trying to patch? Put it somewhere else.

Also, don't tell it to patch the bin folder - you want it to patch the whole Trainz folder (the one outside the bin folder) - otherwise you will have a problem, and may have to re-install.

I have the same problem manual aswell as automatic. Nothing helps. Why can things not be simple here? Stick by the 42203 version.

Patching

Hi, well, I have put the patch into the 2010 folder with exactly the same results, I removed it from the bin folder (directly below 2010 folder) and placed it in the main 2010 folder with the same results, "failed to commute checksum on the trainz.exe"

In reading the other failed patches would suggest that there is a problem, I patched the 2009 trainz exactly the same way and it worked fine, so ??

:)Still smiling, so far but it is annoying.

p.s. by the way love the graphics in 2010 and the wind blown trees.

OK, it may be due to the last failed patch that error is happening.

I would advise moving the patch installer onto the desktop, re-installing TS2010, then re-installing the patches.

Hi ... I'm having the same problem ...

I am now unable to load my TS2010 Engineers Edition #42203 ... this has happened since I tried to use the download station which told me to download the patch #3 ... in fact it kept popping up on the monitor but would not install ... so I decided to try and load it manually as the TS2010 program does not run correctly and keeps corrupting my computer ... as explained earlier (not here) ... anyway the file would not download until I used a down-loading program to get it ... eventually I got it and tried to install it from the desktop ... after more than an hour I realised that the patch was stuck ... so I had to use the Task Manager to cancel it ... now the Trainz program will not load and I cannot install the patch again as it now says that ... it is not compatible with the version of TS2010 that I have ... hummm so what is going on ?
When I try to run the TS2010 program a dos window eventually opens up on the desktop/monitor saying "mismatched built number from TAD".
Also I have many other problems with the TS2010 Engineers Edition and obviously need a patch or two or something.

Basically, you need to re-install Trainz.

I would strongly advise that you do not cancel any patching operations once they have started unless it has failed or become stuck (if that happens, you will have to re-install again)

What error did the patcher report when you tried running it the first time?

This is precisely why I will NOT purchase TS2010 until Auran gets their act together and produce a good stable rail simulator that works with minimal if not near non-existent flaws! I also want graphics that approach if not exceed that of RailWorks, especially with the issue of far away mountains (as existed with MSTS and the Marias Pass route.)

So, in the meanwhile, waiting for TS 20XX, I will return to the antiquated MSTS and follow the developments with OpenRails (ORTS).

I have had too many issues, especially with TS2006 but also with TS 2009.

Most patching issues with TS2009/10 are due to user error (not switching antivirus off, using incorrect patch, not selecting correct folder, not keeping DirectX up to date)

Patching 2010

Hi Shane it works ok now I did take out the 2010 and re-installed a new copy and put the patch on the desktop and it worked ok.

I had to hit the (...) on the patching directory and it was showing the bin and the other folders then I clicked on the trainz.exe to highlight it and hit OK and it carried on, this is for those who might be having problems.

Thanks Shane.
