paste objects ( textures ) under a specific angle

Hello everybody,

Pasting textures is possible using the paste rotation option.

An angle of 90,180,270 or 360 ( 0) is possible.

Is there a possibility to paste under an specific angle ( such as 35 degrees or 125 degrees )?

Thank you

Best regards

There are more!

There are 18 different angles you can select. Each change increments the angle by 20 degrees.

The way to select the angle of choice is to use the direction dial on the Paint flyout. You need to use the mouse to gently pull it into position.

The ‘[‘ & ‘]’ square bracket keys will also move the dial, but in larger, 40 degree, increments for each stab. Great for spinning if held down for a random and/or blurry effect, but the mouse is best for finer alignments.

Hello Casper,

Thank you for your reply. :)

Unfortunately the paste rotation ( Tools F5 ) has not the same options as the texture rotation.

I'm looking for more options with the paste rotation option.

Hello Kurt.

Sorry, I should have read your original post more closely. It’s quite clear.

I’ve been doing a lot of texturing today. Time for a break I think!

Hello Casper,

No problem :) . Now I also know there is difference between the rotation in F2 and F5.

Hello Everybody,

In my route, I'm working with animated water.

I'm using the paste feature frequently.

Does anyone know if the paste tool can be used in another shape ( circle instead of rectangular ).

If you cannot change the shape of the paste-tool, do you know a method that I can use with curved objects ( see picture above ).

Thank you

Best regards

As far as I know the copy/paste tool is based on the grid and is therefore restricted to rectangular sections.

Kurt - I've used the copy/paste method quite a lot for scenery and ground textures and found that rotation is (as said) restricted to 90 degree increments. It can only select/copy/paste a rectangular area, although the size and proportions are not limited.

I avoid copying and pasting height (which is possible) as I find this gives undesired effects which have to be ironed out. I believe that track can be copied and pasted in 2010 but have not tried it. It would I feel give reasonable results with fixed track segments but probably not with splines which would perhaps be split at the edge of the selection rectangle.

Hello Chris, Ray,

Thank you for your reply. :) Then it will be a small rectangular shape around the dock wall and using larger rectangular shapes when possible.

Best regards
