Paging MrRail - the locomotives you just uploaded to the DLS

Hi --

I've just downloaded your "Green Gorge" steam locomotives, the wonderful 2-6-0 and 4-6-0 variants.

I'm having trouble driving them in Cab (Advanced) Mode. Are the correctly configured?

Just a short time ago I contacted "togog" (the original author of those locomotives) asking if I could upload modified versions of a couple of his locomotives that I had modified to work in T:ANE in Cab Mode to the Download Station. Unfortunately he was not at all receptive to my request. Obviously he has relented and allowed you to modify and upload his work? Perhaps I should approach him again? Do you have any suggestions about how I should do this to get the favourable response you did?

Phil

At the risk of being deleted (again), he is probably far too busy to respond to your query.

During the period 31st August to 1st September he uploaded 67 assets to the DLS. All were reskins and/or mods of other peoples work (I am not claiming anything here) - including 40 copies of a hopper originally created by Whitepass.

It's been a while. I kind of got these uploaded then lost interest. In uploading these, me and Fleegle411 had a race before the DLS updated versions. As for togog, we were never able to contact him. We tried multiple times, but he never really responded. And phil, I will take a look at those engines at some point. They worked decently in 12, but I never really made the full conversion to T:ANE. Again, I kinda had lost interest for a while, and am now just getting back into it.

Ya, my one question is are you allowed to upload or re-upload something if someone doesn't get back to you? I want to start updating Prowler901`s content soon and I did send him a PM this morning but I have no idea if he will get back to me considering he has not uploaded ANYTHING to the DLS in over a year. Also, he only uploaded ONE asset to the DLS last year and nothing else.

Under normal circumstances, I would have rather had a reply. However, I did send multiple messages over about a year and a half with no response. Had the DLS not been updating they're acceptable versions, we'd still be waiting for his reply. I mean no offense, but I kinda was strapped for time.

This issue is one that crops up in these forums from time to time. The answer is always the same.

If you wish to mod/reskin someone else's work then you certainly must contact them for permission first. If they fail to respond (and there is NO time limit on that) then you must accept that NO permission has been given. It does not matter if they have not uploaded anything to the DLS in over a year or since the DLS first started operation - you cannot assume that they are dead or do not care anymore about their copyrights. Death, by the way, does not extinguish copyright.

We would all love to see a new reskin of <insert name of loco here> originally by <insert name of creator here> but without their express permission, by email, PM or in a license tag inside the config.txt file, it should not and must not happen.
