Oh look, Trainz wants to repair the asset database!

Bhorton

At work on the SKLR
Well, this Database Repair is going to take more than 18 hours. I am going to start it tonight, and it will run over tomorrow while I go to Brooklands to visit 3 museums: Mercedes Benz museum, Brooklands air museum & the London bus museum.

EDR, why do you hate me so? Le Sigh

that stinks I hate how I had a similar problem that has been mentioned before that sometimes if trainz is closed to quick or something I cant remember what it really was but anyways it starts updating the trainz database and the last three day I was on trainz each morning I was stuck with" Updating trainz database" then about twenty minutes of browsing the trainz forums... "finally!" then the next day...... (hitting start) "Updating Trainz Database" YOU KIDDING ME?! and then the next day same thing: Updating trainz database DARN IT!!!!!!!! (RAGE QUIT:hehe:)

I used to get this a lot, but two things changed that:

I stopped turning my PC off until TADDeamon is stopped. You can make that otherwise invisible thing visible somewhere in the settings so you know when you can turn your PC off.
I installed Trainz on an SSD, so the rare times when I still need (or want) to do an EDR, it takes 15 minutes.

Ahhh! an SSD I must get me one of those! You can tell who's crashed out again, with the number of people on the forum these days, I'm still waiting for the TADDaemon to stop validating all the bl*****g assets in my database.

Touch wood I've had very little trouble with taddeamon and I put that down to having the database process showing on the task bar and never shut down while it's showing.
(Upon saying this I presume all hell will break loose and CM will disintigrate before my eyes just to prove me a liar.)

On the Start screen, click on "Options", open the "Developer" tab and put a tick in the box "Show Database Process Window". This places an icon on the taskbar. It is only safe to shut down your computer when this icon disappears.
