OCR Silver Star Iron Mine missing dependency

I just downloaded "OCR Silver Star Iron Mine", <kuid2:63015:500000:1>, by OverlordNZ. It has missing dependency <kuid2:63015:520000:1>. I search possible variants of this kuid on DLS, then googled it, without success.

Anyone knows where can get this missing item?

That is the OCR iron ore product. I would think it would only be available from Overlord's site. It is a long time since I downloaded the one I use in TS2010.
cheers,
Mike
edit: checked out site, no longer available.

You can always edit the asset to use an existing ore product if you want.

This won't help for multiplayer, but for your own use it would be fine.

Yes John, you are right. The missing asset, <kuid2:63015:520000:1>, is iron ore. I replaced it with one by slugsmasher, <kuid2:86661:9211011:2>, since it has density closest to the real thing. After committing, I got no errors or warnings in CMP, but the mine does not show up in Surveyor and I can't use it. I had the same problem before replacing iron ore, so it is not result of my modification. So, I deleted the iron mine, as I prefer not to garble my Trainz with incomplete assets that cannot work. No donation for Sir OverlordNZ.

But why assets with missing dependencies are on DLS? I would really appreciate if DLS manager run periodically some utility to identify assets with missing dependencies and mark them as such or move to another category, like "rubbish tip". This problem keeps occurring since the first day I started playing Trainz, 7 years ago and I see no improvement of any kind in this department

I would give it another chance.
I don't know what you missed, but it does work.
TRZ 12 no sp
Just did a quick set up to show you.....

The missing dependency issue is sadly something that will plague Trainz, and other programs that rely on outside content. It was the original creator who forgot to upload the dependency and caused the problem. Perhaps someday, wishful thinking here, that this issue can be resolved.

I agree with you about mucking up the Trainz install with half-broken content. I too have done quite a bit of clean-up and now if anything does not work, and can't be repaired, or is missing content that can't be replaced or located, I delete it rather than leave it around with hopes of finding the missing bits.

Hi Gerry,

if this asset does not show in my Surveyor window I have no idea how to give it another chance. If I download it again, it will have the same problem. I noticed that there are number of assets originally created for older version of Trainz and later modified for TS2010 or TS12. Some of them don't work with my version of TC (2.7, build 3323).

But they can be patched in the config.txt file. Right click, edit, edit in explorer. Yes it would be nice if all the dependencies were on the DLS but some items are very old and created before the current checks etc on the DLS made content creators aware that dependencies were missing.

How exactly do you do this "patching"?

Open the asset for edit in Explorer. (Option in Content Manager).

Edit the config.txt file to point to the other iron ore product you want to use.

Save the config.txt
Close folder
Check for errors and commit if there are none.

I did this already (please see my post above). Changing commodity does not help. Either before or after the change the mine does not show in my Surveyor window.

Sorry for repeating what I said, but this worked for me. Are you sure there are no other errors? Open and close the asset for editing and check for errors (right-click and choose View errors and warnings).

Sometimes one error or problem fix will allow others to appear. It's like pulling a stick out of a pile and they all come tumbling down.
