NZ pics

You can, at a cost.

The google map boards are flat and do not conform to any topography plus the resolution degrades the closer you get.
So in the picture above, the sea is at the same level as the land, what I have done is raise the land by 10m and then I will lower the sea to -10m. Transdem had the wellington yard covering a range between 3 and 7m so I set it at 10 to make it easier.

If at a later date Transdem is able to follow the the terrain with this type of pic then it will be the way to go, at the moment it will only do it with a terrain map.

Ahh, yes - you have jostled my memory. I recall reading somewhere that the overlay will not follow the terrain contours. It was a good thought, perhaps in the future. Anyway, keep up with your good work.
Cheers,
Fender :)

Hi People, Hi there Gordon, remember you ask me some surrounding buildings for the Wellington Port, well wee have afraid some time ago if you make a large block with 300mx300 dont gonna work well yes??? I discover a way to put large models assets correctly without any problem, if you remember wee have also the problem with the real images of the buildings?
i solve this problem to with the new panoramic streets walk path in the all Wellington City is very useful for taking shoots of the Buildings Port, also if wee made all the Port in 3 blocks models you gonna have a much more defined image of the background for the scenery , you can see in the images i gonna post here.
In relation to the buildings they are very simple buildings and i estimate the overrule polys around 5000 for all the Port so no problem in this mater, the images going to take a much more memory because going to use 2 or 3 images 2048x2048 but if you see in the images the quality are very good for the ground and for the buildings, i expect to make all the buildings even the little ones all with real textures they are only one i cant get the pictures and is the large building near the sea corner i cant found any because the Google panoramic walk trough dont pass there so... (the level off the see for the land is 3 meters high in the ground base

As a staff member, I'll be around! Who else will be there?! I'll try and get some photos, phone camera will have to suffice though!

hi mate i will be on the last ee:D i got my tickets redy to go!!!!!:udrool:
regards jeran

That's great Jeran. Enjoy the ride, the sounds, the bumps, the ability to see out the front of the unit, perhaps even video it for the memories because they certainly don't make them like that anymore. I just wish I could be there myself :'(.

Fortunately Fender saved them for prosterity in Trainz. There will be quite a few enthusiast specials on my network in future years.

A very historic couple of days in NZ, the last EE service, the last Overlander, and the first "Northern Explorer". The last Down Overlander is seen just north of Te Horo (I've since seen pics of the real thing, and it had a blue DC on the front).

Train 640 heads through the Wairarapa once a week, it being the only scheduled train to run between Masterton and Pahiatua. We see it just north of Featherston

The last shot is of this train flying through Solway with a DFT+DC up front
