can you tell me how you get it into the game

Well first off if you are sketchup to send your 3Ds mods to 3Dmax then to Trianz .IM than that is the way to go. Only think you need is the config file have to be in out side the folder that contends your texture and .IM file. It should show up in the game.

That is looking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt! :D

You've inspired me to continue my BART cars. =) I know I have other developers helping me with the project, but this gives me the confidence to try stuff on my own too! Excellent work!

-A

Well it be better to work on the train your self so you know how to build it, if you wanted to build a new train for Bart you would have the know hows to make the train. Keep the confidences high and keep following your dream.

ive seen your shots and i'm impressed, I used sketchup to build the trains then export them to gmax so I wont have to do any type of creating in gmax except attatchment points and door animation, but im having a problem when it comes to letting them show up in the game

Thanks. Glad you like it. To me, gmax is really difficult to understand but soon I will devote time to learning it. I think for the mean time, I will look into google sketchup. :)

it nothing to create a model in skecthup, but to get it into trainz from gmax that's the killer right there

i did that and the train wont show up in the game

Did you make a file for all the textures and the .im file??

And make sure you have the config file know where you put the texture file at and plus show the name.

Can I see the config file you have do for the train you doing for???

I want to get into making subway trains or trains in general for Trainz how do you do it what program do you use to model them?

:udrool: :udrool: :udrool: :mop: :mop: sorry for drooling so much. :hehe: but its just that R40 is so good. you did a magnificent job. i cant wait to see how this turns out in Trainz. BTW will it work for TS09?

I just have one question about the modelling in sketchup. When you built the subway car, did you build the interior first, and then the body? Or the other way around?

The body first and than the interior second. Its hard to know how the inside will look if you don't have the base and the outside made first then you works your why in. Its like building a house with the floors and things in side with out the walls.

I know this thread is kind of dead but if you are not making a custom cab for the train, the shoreliner cab seems pretty good for it. All you need to do is take out the doors on the sides of the cab and add windows. It looks great though.

This. Keep it up!

I thought he was re working the R160 putting better textures on it. Aah well. There goes another good project dead. That's ok because someone may make one soon. He is working on the Bombardier R142 which is good news.:). Just gotta be patient.

You cannot re-edit the mesh of an IM file. It's irreversible, and can only be edited by the original author.

By the way, I was never working on this project, as I didn't start this topic and am not updating it. My only train projects are the R160 and the R142.
