NYCTA! pics!

Came to the rescue again ! J/K

My friend Angel (aking4125) had a CDP of the route I gave him from October 4--and it works!

Glad that it worked out, but it's a shame that you have to do all that other work all over...

Well it's better from doing it from square 1 Lol

True, and many thanks again!

Small route update: I have finished the Brighton line (again) this time to Brighton Beach. I just spent last night painstakingly creating stations models for Brighton Beach/Ocean Pkwy (they're very similar so I only used one model for both), and West 8 St. It actually took longer than expected. Also, I finished the City Hall Loop station spline. I'm going to be working on the South Ferry loops next--since the platforms aren't the same size (outer is 5 cars, inner is 10), I have to get creative.

I will post pics once the new Brighton stations are uploaded in the game and placed where they need to be.

I might start on that majestic behemoth that is Coney Island really soon!

New CDP for Signals

Hey all,

I got some messages reporting problems with the NYCTA Signals and Overhead Signals cdps via my Mediafire links, so below is a new CDP file with all of the new signals in one spot. Please let me know if it's a success or if it's still not working.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Brighton Line!!

Brighton Line has been rebuilt and backed up several times over. It is now complete to Ocean Pkwy, with the only two stops left being West 8 St (modeled and imported, just not put on the layout yet), and Coney Island. Besides the 42 St shuttle and the late night 3 from 148 St to Times Square, I am happy to announce that the (B) in its full non-rush hour route is completed! Now, the passengers in my Trainz world can ride the full (B) from 145 St to Brighton Beach!

Below are some screenshots of Brighton Beach, Ocean Pkwy & Prospect Park. Because he is a good friend, and since I was late on getting this completed before he left us here in Phoenix, I decided to re-create two iconic Zach Summer photographs below, including his 2011 cover for Tracks of the NYC Subway.

P.S. When going to CI, right now the only thing I'll be laying is the trackwork. The next line(s) to be done are the (N) to 86 St and the (F) to Coney Island.

Those are some empty stations there, I wonder where are the passengers ? :p

Kidding :D

Looking good there ! Did you start on the west end line (D) ? Or you already did that ?

lmfao

hahahahahahahaha! It's because the MTA finally went on strike because of poor working conditions.

I haven't started the West End line yet. I have the (D) up to 9 Av, but I was using BStyle's el station as a place holder. Since I've done the Brighton EL stuff on my own, I might just start doing my own el stations for the other EL lines. My mentality has always been--if you don't want to wait for someone else to do it, either shut up and wait, or do it yourself. :hehe:

But back on topic, I'm gonna do Sea Beach right now, and when I get to New Utrecht Av, I'll double back, put the (D) 62 St station above it, and then connect it north to 9 Av, then work back down towards CI. The problem is going to be the Coney Island yards--since I'm doing everything real-scale, I have to use MCQ tracks and SEVERELY reduce my use of spline points to avoid substantial lag. As far as I know, MCQ's outside tracks are the only really good looking, low poly tracks out there that are realistic.

So, here's to praying that I have enough room between the Culver & Sea Beach/West End lines to squeeze in the entire CI Yards & Stillwell layups.

CI

Thanks for the heads up. I use Peter Dougherty's book "Tracks of the NYC Subway" and Google Earth for my layouts, so I already have all the track info. It's a matter of making it into the game as accurately as possible that proves to be challenging :hehe:

Don't take it serious... Lol

Of course sir! No stone in the NYCTA will go un-turned.

If that's the case having passengers in your stations shouldn't go un-turned. What good is the NYCTA without passengers trying to get from point A to point B and pay the MTA for it ? :p

If these stations would enable passengers without all the hassle of placing invisible stations (trust me, it can be a lot of hassle and is very time consuming) then we have here a true NYCTA route. Going through there with nobody just ruins some of the fun.

Of course, you don't have too. Just a wish :hehe:

Passengers, eh?

That's something I had to sacrifice, seeing as I am not sure splines are able to be passenger enabled. It was either do the stations the way they are now, or make about 50+ station objects because of the varying platform lengths. I will try to figure something out because I'm sort of leaning towards passenger enabling stations.

Don't let that change the way you want them to be because of me...

That much I know, It would be a blow to create all those objects. Still I just wish there was a better way to do it. Don't change your ideas on the stations, making them spines allows user to set the station length to however they want them to be which is perfect.

Again, it's just something I wish, don't let that change the way you want them to be ;)

Take a look at Magicland's Subway stations, they are splines & non-spline pieces which allows them to be adjustable & passenger enabled.

Already knew about this from the start. However, magiclands stations are repetitive as they use the same design. With Aces new stations, you get a variety and that something I think most of us want. Would be boring to bypass the same looking station over and over, even if he has different "types" (Island, 4T, Side Etc).

Don't get me wrong, magiclands stations are awesome, but that was then and this is now...

Oh I didn't mean use them. I was referring to using his design for the stations to allow you to make your stations as splines & have them passenger enabled.

Yeah but then Ace would pretty much have to re do all of his stations. And remember, the ones we got wasn't all of his. Changing it up now would be a tad too much for him I believe...

Oh passengers---

I decided on the three-in-one spline for a variety of reasons the top two being:

1) No need to separately (and repetitively) switch back and forth between the objects tab and spline tab to get your pieces to build the station.

2) I was working good with the idea until it came to stations that were not at a horizontal or vertical angle. It's quite annoying having to rotate the objects (as a lot of nycta stations are not simple up-down, left-right), and if you are off by a few degrees, then your station is crooked, etc.

I know people want passenger enabled stations. I am trying to work out a solution, so please bear with me everyone.
