NYCTA! pics!

Man, that is some serious detail. Do you know how to get his r142a to work in TC. He had a beta of it that was for TC back in 2008 or 2009 but it was deleted.

Something I've been working on

Subway Station Splines finished!

After a grueling process of double-, triple-, and quadruple checking these assets with the help of BStyles---not to mention numerous PITA moments with GMax, IM Viewer, and small errors in re-naming texture files---after all that--the new subway station splines are finished, and I must say they look better than I could have ever expected. I'm running TS2010, but the realism blows me away when I looked at them a second time in 2006. I will work on the end-pieces tomorrow, so the entire set (splines and end-pieces) will be available Monday or Tuesday, depending on my schedule, so stay tuned. A HUGE thanks to BStyles for all of his help when my computer didn't feel up to the challenge. Along with my signals, and B's tracks, this will definitely up the realism on your subway/el routes. After the end pieces are complete, I will be working on trackside signs for the subway! All shots below are from TS2010. Enjoy!

First set is of the 1T Bypass (found on (B)(C) CPW & (3) Eastern Pkwy)

Awsome stations ! Great work ! These stations will have "night mode" right ?

Also what about the tracks and tunnels ?

Sorry haven't really looked at this thread for a while now.

acelejalde, Please check the gap between platform and train. The gap is so wide that someone will fall in the gap, get hurt, and sue you.

If he are using splines, the gap is adjustable depending on where you place your invisible station and your track. Which means that it should work for different systems besides the NYCTA.

Chicago uses cars that are 8 foot 8 inches wide, while NYCTA and most other systems use cars that are over 10 feet wide at platform level

This was a problem when the SOAC cars came to chicago, which were styled From Boston cars I believe. They had to install a removable platform flap at Howard Street and only run the cars to and from Dempster on the Skokie Branch, which also had a flap on one side only. So for short distance near the two stations, it ran on the wrong side of the track.

Klinger answered the question before I could--the gap is adjustable depending on where you place your track. I just did a quick station mock-up without any real attention to the gap, so my apologies. And to answer three questions posted since the pics came up--

1) The content will be for TRS 2006 and up--as will all of my content. I just use 2010 exclusively now because I have a desktop now too :hehe:

2) There will be no night mode, because you need a separate mesh table for night mode, and the last time I checked, mesh tables are not valid in the config file for splines.

3) I am only working on subway signals/signs/stations. BStyles is handling the tracks, and ExpressLine3Train is handling the tunnels. BStyles has mde progress on his current and vintage El track set--I do not know the status of his subway tracks. As for EL3T, all I know is that he began work on the tunnels last week. Until there is more info--that's all I got!

Ahh I understand. Kinda blows about there being no night mode. The station will look sorta unrealistic when it's at night. Oh well. Still very excellent stations and signals you made! :)

Keep up the good work guys but don't stress yourselves.

Also, stuipd question. But what about elevated stations ?

Not a stupid question at all--BStyles is in charge of those as well. I don't know the status update yet. When I find out, I'll let everyone know.

Cool

Last question.

I know jeff made pretty much all the NYCTA trains. But will any of you guys will make your own ? If not i could understand since jeff made them all. But at least have some other than magiclands to hold passengers.

As you know, I am making the R160. The thread is around here somewhere, and I am working on the project. I'm not updating it as frequently, but no worries. I won't give up on this project. So far I've got everything needed to make the train, but I still need to learn how to animate the doors and the LED Signs. Other than that, the project is moving along well. Making the train passenger-friendly will be the best part.:D

The el stations are being released one at a time, and will be compatible from TRS2006 upwards. I did hade the R142 project going some years back and I feel like restarting that too, but nothing definite yet.

The first IRT subway system in NYC in 1904 uses cars that are 8'9" wide and 51' long. The second BRT/BMT subway system in 1914 used cars that were 10' wide and 67' long. The third IND subway system in 1932 uses cars that are 10' wide and 60'6" long. The three systems were independent of each other until 1950s when BMT and IND systems were combined into one system. In 1970s, cars that are 10' wide and 75' long ran on most of the BMT/IND system. 75-foot cars can't run on J, L, M, and Z routes because of tight curves on those routes.

Yeah I know about the R160 thread. I understand it would take a while.

Again, don't stress yourselves. You guys are doing perfect !

All I gotta do is play the waiting game...
;)

Yeah. I belive the R68 and R46 are the only 75 foot long cars in service now. The gap in most of the stations isn't too bad but their are some where you could easily stick your foot in last time I rode the trains.
