NYCTA! pics!

That's right fellas--don't adjust the brightness on your screens or check to see if the prescription of your eyes or glasses is incorrect! The stations are finished and boy are they a beauty. While I won't overload and post 50+ images of every single layout, I thought I would share some shots of the two stand-outs IMO, IRT City Hall and DeKalb. These were my favorite to design and texture and they look damn near realistic in the shots. It took literally 15 seconds each to create these stations, so the ease of working with these new kits is going to be amazing. I'm still going to match them against BStyles' tunnels, but for now, after a long month of slaving away---I present to you the fruits of my labor. Thanks again for all of the support, motivation and kind words. Thanks also SO much for your patience--I know it can be frustrating looking at all these pics and wondering, "Wtf, when are they gonna release that--this waiting s**t is getting tiresome". Well, we want to give you the BEST subway content that's ever been released, and the pictures below are evidence of our hard work and dedication to making you, our fellow Trainzers and fans of our work, extremely satisfied. After all, if you strip away the titles and credentials, at our cores, BStyles and I are just like you guys--Trainzers and railfans who love the subway as much as you guys do. I hate making date promises (because I'm notorious for never following them), but expect a release date on the stations within the next seven days. Again--that's for the stations only--no word on the tunnels yet.

Thanks sir. And the following message isn't solely directed at you but,

People, for CRYIN' IN THE NIGHT, do not quote pictures in replies, unless it is a specific one you have a question on. Oy!

Again, it isn't you Allyn. There have been worse offenders!

-A :o

Please, please don't quote the pictures.

Someone call the Fire Department, we have a code 5. Someone put some water on him, he is on fire. Nice work Ace. Puttin one in for the #squad.

If you can't wait for the NYCTA tunnels....

I just discovered that AlTerr's v3 of Moscow Metro's tunnel package actually integrates perfectly with the current v3 of the NYCTA subway station kit. Below are some pics of how perfectly they mesh together.

At the end of this post is the link to the .cdp for the Moscow Metro kit.

On the website it'll say Version 2.0--I have version 3.0, but I don't know if that's available on the site or not. Since I don't have the developer's permission to release the cdp, a Google Search might aid you guys. Either way, there's no real difference between the two versions except some new pieces in 3.0

R142

Hello,
Bstyles your photos aren't appearing I might want to point out...though they are quite brilliant at least.
Here's a somewhat fictional 456 train going to all stations in manhattan (Note: I reskined Magicland's Tunnels & I reskinned the route sign on the r142 of alex's since magicland's subway R62 and R33 don't work in TS2010 because of pole reading error. I do NOT plan on releasing or distributing this).

Eric
Where did you get diesel horn for the R142

The tunnels from the Moscow Metro Route do look nice. I notice the tracks for the tunnel have under running third rails. The NYC subway uses over running third rails. If there is a way to delete the third rails from the moscow metro tunnels, that would be great.

Amazingly enough, if you look, I am still around to answer those questions. But I agree! Don't quote pics and FURTHERMORE there is an edit button and you can delete the pics your quoting...it helps a lot with scrolling. The horn sound was on the dls you can search for its by someone (I'm terrible with usernames). And to Acelejalde and BStyles, EXCELLENT WORK :) very impressed how amazing this turned out!
Eric (also if ever someone has a question like that they can pm me)

Hello -A-

Those screenshots of those Moscow stations remain me of the old stations before the super major overhaul of all NYC stations in the 90s ....

Generally speaking ... Here's a suggestion for future considerations guys ... go back in time and do the 60 and 70 NYC stations ... LOL .... The research here is easy -- just watch movies of that era like Death Wish and the Warriors, Pelham 123 (70s version), etc etc ,,,

A good variety always comes in handle!!!

Good day All

Ish6,the srcreensohts show the NYCTA Subway stations with Moscow tunnels :).
About your suggestion,is not bad idea, the NYCSubway.org are a good Website for investigation.I sure you knowed that.
Greetings Toni:wave:

That's actually a great idea Ish! I'll do some research. I'm also looking into doing some abandoned stations (not a whole bunch just five or so to cover the system). The guy's name is bxmike88 who does all of the NYCTA horn sounds that're available on the DLS. I'll be using moscow metro tunnels on some of my routes for the time being. Btw, the mega all-in-one subway route is back on--I finally convinced myself to do it again.

Hi Toni

Yeah -- there are a few sites out there when great detail, etc ... Actually, many of the tunnels that the NYC subway had no longer exist .... During the 90's overhaul they seal many of the passengr tunnels as well -- I guess to save money!

Hi -A-

I have always like a vass variety of contents of similiar theme, etc ... it's fun to do, to be honest, A ....

Since you and Bstyles (hope I got his name right) are team mates this give you an opportunity to discuss these suggestions with him, etc -- I am sure that you guys can come up with a super plan to re-constructed that era of the NYC Subway system ... even present stations with graffiti, etc LOL .... And including signals, tracks (which where different then today, in detail), even emergency exits in the tunnels, and the lights in the tunnels which are different to today's tunnel lights, etc .... the list is endless A!

Back in the 90's I used to work with the Daily News at their depot, and a friend which retired as NYC Subway track worker worked during the 60's, 70's, and 80's, etc told me many stories of the underground tunnels --- ti's basically a vast mazed of tunnels leading to many parts of the city --- many of these tunnels are now seal, however!!

Honestly, -A- if you really take in the history of the NYC you can create content endlessly, from every era .... this can easily keep you busy for a few years, etc LOL ... I only suggest these things because I do assumed you really enjoy creating these wonderful pieces that you have given to the community, etc ... that's how I feel when I create stuff here at home!

Anyhow, you take care and looking forward to seeing what direction you will take down the road!!

Awesome Idea. I was gonna suggest this but I felt it was too taxing to say it now. :o

If you do plan on doing that. That means the 3rd Ave El would be created. So will the other early elevated lines.

Another idea would be to do future lines. The only line I could think of would be the Second Ave subway. But again as ish6 stated, only do it if you love to create stuff. But again, I think that's asking for too much right now. ;)

Actuallu i touched upon that with ace on a different forum about the future lines if i can find the convo ill post it for you guys.

@Ish and Angel:

I love creating content for the game. First touched down with NYCTA through Magicland's content, then JeffMorris, then Ish's wonderful re-skins and added accessories which I do plan on using. I'm very well versed in NYCTA history, so doing something like that would be fun!

To Angel, I am thinking of doing the SAS, but I'd have to tie it in with a different route, bc tbh, a solo North-South route with no other connections would be kinda boring to build. There are track connections to the 63 St line that would hypothetically allow QBL trains and 6 Av trains to run along 2 Av, so if I decide to include it, I'll tie in the SAS with the QBL/BMT Broadway.

Oh! Almost forgot, polls closed on the voting. Many of you sent PMs, and the winner for the first route to be released is....

*drumroll*

WINNER: IRT West/East Side lines (Bronx/Manhattan/Brooklyn).

Luckily this route is: a) severely under-represented (actually not at all) on BVE and b) my pet project since late 2010, so it's quite built up already. Since I'm adding in the West Side and Bronx els, the project falls from 85% done (just the Bronx-Brooklyn 5) to about 50% done. Not to worry--I heartily accept the challenge. And since Aking4125 lives in the Bronx, he can correct me where I'm wrong--which is often :hehe:

Looking at the page about it in Wikipedia. Supposedly the Q will share some of the stations until 125th. But I meant add the SAS to the mega-route (Obviously It'll be a different route file and be named "Future 20XX" or something). I wouldn't know for sure.

But I'm more leaning towards the 3rd Ave El. At least the Bronx portion of it from 3rd Ave - 149th St to Gun Hill Road. Making the entire elevated line from Manhattan maybe too taxing.

For now, the Q will terminate with the T at 125 St. There are two layup tracks heading north to about 129 St/2 Av which are provisional for a Bronx extension. It could run along 3 Av, or cut across and end near Throgs Neck, which was part of the original IND 1939 expansion plans. The 3 Av El won't be too taxing--the only thing that's tedious is scenery and roads lol but that's what makes a route come alive!
