Good question. I have the same problem my self. Before the whole Railpage thing happened, i was able to DL and veiw these documents, but now, on the new website, the links seem unresponsive.

This is a pity, as the documents linked to do contain quite a lot of useful information; relevant not just too the North Coast line.

Matt.

hi matt

I could view the documents this morning [extremely slow loading] but downloading is not possible. Like others have said, I could do it before the Railpage crash. It seems some copyright rule has stopped this downloading so those who downloaded earlier are the lucky ones.

This one can be opened easily and is the Composition and Marshalling of NSWGR Country Trains http://locofonic.alphalink.com.au/nswgr_marshalling.htm

Re the Brisbane to Wallangerra matter and I see you asked on Railpage at http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t13257.htm

Do you want the QLD or NSW section and what sort of detail?

There is a lot on railpage about the "North Mail" so put "North Mail" into the RP search function.

http://www.railpage.com.au/f-p1465922.htm

This thread has some on Wallangarra and look for Rupert's response http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11356669-0-asc-s0.htm

Since the http://coalstonewcastle.com.au/manual/documents/ is being a bother, I though I might add some materal I posted on Railpage some time ago.

The ARHS Bulletin Aug 2000 (Vol 51 No. 754) "Some recollections of the Murwillumbah branch" by (Williams, Ted)
From the 27 FEB 1955 Working Timetable in above ARHS article.

The North Coast Mail [N11/14] is shown as all the way to Murwillumbah. Arrive M'bah 7:23pm and depart for Sydney 6:25am.

Down North Coast Mail N11 Casino 2:58pm/3:13 Lismore 4:00/4:24 text faded, hard to read but crossed another train at Lismore so maybe that is why so long there, Byron Bay 5:44/5:59 Murwillumbah 7:23pm
Up North Coast Mail N14 Murwillumbah Dept 6:25am Mooball "a" stop with no time shown but Burringbah was 6:53/6:56am Byron Bay 7:44/7:56 Lismore 9:11/9:25 Casino 10:19/10:35am

The article describes the Nth Coast Mail as stopping as required all stations from Murwillumbah to Taree. In the early 1950s 2xFS, 1xBS, 2xLFX dogboxes, MHO brakevan, sometimes 1 or 2 bogie louvre vans [MLV,BLV] behind the brakevan.

Worked by a 32 on the branch and 36 on the main south of Casino.

The North Coast Mail was later cut back to Grafton and later South Grafton [AKA Grafton City].

Another passengers on the branch were N55/56 all stations 4 end platform cars with a brakevan in the middle of the train. This train was the shoppers and school kids train and 55 was a mixed between Casino and Lismore. Loco 30T mostly but sometimes a 32 class.

Train 17/18 was in 1955 the connection at Casino with the Brisbane Express N3/4 [Not Brisbane Limited N1/2] and was a through MCE plus 2 light L type centre aisle cars for local use plus a brakevan. The MCE in later years replaced by a BS & FS as through cars for transfer on N3/4. Train 17/18 considered the express as it only stopped at staff stations and also hauled by 30T.

In the early 1970s 17/18 made their connection with N3/4 at Sth Grafton instead of Casino, until the Gold Coast MotoRail took over in 1973. For a few years 17/18 was a 620/720 class two car diesel railcar.

The Gold Coast MotoRail was a through service to Sydney. As it was really the Brisbane Express rerouted from Brisbane to Murwillumbah, it used the old Brisbane Express numbers of N3/4. It also had a MotoRail car carrier.

Casino was also a MotoRail place but Casino cars could be loaded only on the bottom deck of the "MBY" MotoRail carrier as the ramp was the northern dock platform between the two through platforms.

In the 1980s an additional sleeper train also ran M'bah / Sydney called the North Coast Overnight Express N5/6.
Northbound SYD 6pm arrive M'bah 9:40 am and return M'bah 2:30pm SYD 6am on the 1984 timetable.

Hi Ron,

P.23 Table G of the 1968 NSW public timetable on that Coals to Newcastle page has the Sydney / Wallangarra / Brisbane times with the QLD portion included. You can manage a print screen of the page. Extremely slow loading but it will finally give you your answer.

Email me if no luck.

Cheers

Hi Ron,
haven't heard back via the email. Do you want me to email the Sydney / Wallangarra / Brisbane timetable with the QLD portion?

It is waiting here for your response. Or did you finally have luck on the "Coals to Newcastle site"?

Cheers

Hi Ron, you sent a personal email November 30th, 2010, 07:44 AM noting that the Wallangarra timetable screen shot arrived in your inbox.

That is the last message I have between us as I just checked my Trainz personal inbox as well as my personal mail on my home system.

Lets know via the trainz personal email system what else you wanted and I'll try to locate and send the desired material?

In fact, could you now, at this moment, send me a personal messsage via the Trainz personal message system indicating that you have read this so as to check if the system if working. I am worried that you sent me personal mail and I did not receive it.

Cheers

hi peter
thanks for the info above

a question for the people that read this

is there any way that the via recta- the line that never was
could be built using the engineer way-points into the valley to hook up direct from warwick to near rosewood?

my wife has a lot of photos of that area and once i get a car again it would not be hard to get more appropriate photos once i know the proposed right of way.

could get pretty close anyway

just a thought

thanks
ron
