All of the levers and gauges work including the speedometer located on the computer screen there on the desktop. Its hard to see in the pic. The sun visers can be moved up and down with the mouse and the wipers work. The radiator cooling fans run too. And the radio works.
But that's enough about my engine I'll turn this thread back over to 6900.

Hey BNSF50,

I want add the dim light on the front nose bottom and rear too. Why not? But I just inform on you that all.

Just working on the hornsound. I think I have one now for the Nathan K3LA that will be nice and loud, just like its about to run you over:) I also found a couple of details I missed. I probably will get it out by this time next week though.

That's a good looking cab you have there. A question, should I want to add one to mine, do you have to model both sides? I have some photos of the right side, not much of anywhere else though. And how do you find out what all of the dials, buttons and guages do. Can these locomotive users manuals be found online somewhere?

I would model both sides. You can have a look at mine if you want, and I can get you more views of how I did the back wall and such if you like. Mine is accurate according to pic I found on the Internet. The back wall I had to guess at because I could not find any shot's of it, but the rest of the cab is right.

Here's how I did it. First just make a clone of your engine in Gmax and name it interior. Then go through and delete anything that you cannot see from the cab to cut down on poly count, you'll have to also make a new asset in CMP because the interior is an attachment. Then after you have the control panel and interior parts made start putting in the points for the gauges and levers, and name them correctly so that Trainz will recognize them. You will also have to get them turned the correct direction so that the lever will operate correctly and the config file will have to be set up to operate them too. I recommend just working on one gauge or lever at a time to save yourself a big head ache. I referred to some existing models for help in this department, like the Auran DD40 and Phil_C's engines. In fact I used the DD40 Script to operate the gauges and levers.
You should go to World of Trainz and have a look at Phil Cambell's tutorial on building an interior, he explains how to do a lot of what I briefly described here but in a lot more detail.

Thanks, I didn't realize Phil C had a tutorial on that, I'll check it out. I guess, short of getting inside one, which will never happen, I'll have to guess on the back wall too.

Re Interior Help

If you don't already have this, TRS2004_dd40_interior.zip, just paste that into Google and it will pop up. I highly recommend getting it, there are Gmax files located in this file that you can load into Gmax and have a look at how Auran built the DD40 Interior. Very Very helpful. Pictures are worth a thousand words. Hum somebody said that already. You will also need the 04 or 06CCG for guidance.
Then if you run into any problems just come back here and ask, there are many here that have built interiors before. They're not the mystic that some make them out to be, they're just another mesh like the engine. With a few attachment points IE the levers and gauges which have already been scripted by Auran, you just have to name them correctly so that the script will recognize them.

This loco looks awesome:D, great job. Any plans for adding working ditchlights?

As I remember I thought about it way back when I did my U50C, which is probably four years ago now, and found out that I had to use something called a corona, which would shine right through parts of the mesh where it wasn't supposed to shine through. So I abandoned that idea back then. I searched the TRS2006 content creators manual for "ditchlight". It didn't bring up anything though. It doesn't look like there is a tutorial on it either. If you know of something, point me to it. It might be something to think of adding when I get to the cab.

bnsf50: Got the DD40X interior, I'll take a look at it.

WoT

The only thing I could think of is contacting Phil_C of World of Trainz, i think i contacted him once when it seemed like gmax was working on my comp, and he either said CCG or one of his tutorials, but you could say that those didnt work

I have ditch lights on my engine but they are on the same switch as the head light, I'm not aware of a separate switch for them. As to shining through the mesh they do that to a certain extent, you just have to size them correctly to help prevent that and make them directional in CMP or the config if you;re using 04, that way they are only seen from one direction.
Edit:
Here are some pic of my ditch lights. And corona bleed through, none on the ditch lights, but those are the lights from my crossings bleeding through the cab.
I don't know if Auran has fixed this in Trainz Classics's or not.
And a shot of my interior back wall, not much there yet still have to add some access panels and maybe a breaker box.

The coronas will show threw several layers of mesh before the mesh will block the corona. If you have the corona set for being viewable in all direction then it will be most noticeable. If its directional its less noticeable if the attachment point is oriented properly. As long as the line "directional 0" is in the config for that corona then that corona will only be visible in the negative Z direction of the attachment point. So as long as all you attachment points on the loco are oriented properly you shouldn't be able to see you own coronas from the inside of the loco. (With the possible exception of a beacon light if its set for 360 degree view) But all coronas out side your cab viewable in your direction will shine through like your crossing lights in your pic. I would be nice if something could be done about it.

Just an update since I'm sure some people are wondering where it is. I've just been through the pleasures of formatting C::mad: and reinstalling Windows due to some corruption that I knew was there, tried to fix with a system repair, but finally got too bad for me to ignore when the computer wouldn't start any more.

The loco isn't lost, all my content creation stuff was on another hard drive, as well as backed up to a DVD. I'm just putting things back together again and reinstalling drivers, programs, etc.. I had uploaded everything to the DLS before this happened and it is sitting in the preview area now, but I'm going to have to re-upload everything due to the fact that the pictures of each asset aren't showing for some reason. When I get to the point that I can release it from the preview area, I'll post in the freeware forum.

...too hard for me to ignore, when the computor wouldn't start anymore...

 I've heard that tune before...somewhere...

I just wanted to say thank you 6900, for striving to provide the screenshot pictures with your content!

I know from experience, it can be a try, try again task, however it's helpful, and provides a consistent, professional look to the Download Station.
