New project: I-Rail

Yes all rolling stock and locos CAN be reskinned, although there are some built in asets that cannot because they are made by top notch asset designers that work for Auran and are extremely hard to reskin, the ones that comes to mind would be the built in TGV. If you need help might I suggest prre6. He uses PAINT.NET, I use GIMP, both are freeware image editors. Some prefer to use Photoshop or 3D Canvas, both payware. If you need some reskinning tutorials I don't recommend myself (I'm not the best reskinner). I would recommend prre6, southern1581, or one of the guys here.

I think andrew means that, instead of really reskinning, you are just patching the I-rail logo on to existing stuff, thus possibly violating copyright.

Look, I get in the age of copyright suites and ownership issues we see posts like this. But buddy, this is how a lot of companies first start off: rainbow equipment. Amtrak started like this, BNSF, CSX, NS, all of them. Now I see how you could say that the violation is in the mesh used, but even so, look under the FAIR USE POLICY of copyright acts. We are a legal, pirate-free, responsible group of rail enthusiasts trying to model a proto-fictional modern commuter railroad ok? We check everything, and sorry if my skin there offends you and the mesh's original creater and the skins original creator; it will get changed once we figure out how we will skin from now on.

Who is the creator? (P.S. even if the creator is gone, you can still violate copyright (Connyxy comes to mind)).

@ amtrak i think you should be careful with sharing others content....very careful....

PS: share some of mine! I like earning money via the US law :hehe:

@flusi737: Well it's good to see you aren't abusing the wonderful welfare packages that way! :hehe:

... copyright of the original model creator. They may not like people releasing a virtually unchanged skin...

We understand that. That is why I didn't release the skin. Like a lot of stuff around here it is private, yet on display. From here on out this will be ONLY about the i-rail project. We follow all the copyright laws and regulations and do not need to be reminded by you, or anyone else, to follow them. I am a semi-pro musician and writer in the classical genre; half of my job is dealing with copyright laws and I will proceed to destroy anyone's argument about this topic due to my experience.

As for the I-Rail project, I am pleased to announce that a maglev set has been created and the new Phase II paint scheme has been created. Application of this scheme will happen late next week. Hopefully I'll get screenies up shortly after.
