A few weeks ago, I was bored, so I started experimenting with the TRC railroad crossings to see what would happen if you tried to use Japanese symbols to name them. For example, naming a crossing 駅&1, 駅&2, 駅&3, then naming another crossing 電車&1, 電車&2, 電車&3, etc., instead of using alphanumeric characters. As it turns out, a lot of stuff happens.
The script understands these symbols to the point where it knows "all crossings named the same thing must be part of the same system, all crossings named something else must be part of a different system," but interestingly, the game seems to think that All Japanese symbols are interchangeable with each other, so as soon as you save the route, it'll swap several of the crossings' names with each other so that Crossing A is whatever I named crossing F and Crossing F is whatever I named Crossing B and so on. But the glitch doesn't stop there. It names one side of the crossing one symbol, then the other side of the crossing another symbol, so when the train hits a trigger, the cars will stop for a different crossing somewhere else on the route and the lights will flash on some other third crossing somewhere else entirely. But it gets weirder. On some of the crossings, half of the crossing kept the name I assigned it, so when the train hit the trigger, the cars stopped, but only one flasher worked, while the other one flashed when the train hit a different trigger. But it gets weirder. Sometimes it swapped the names with a symbol I didn't even use. For example, I named a crossing あ&1, あ&2 あ&3, and it renamed one of the flashers to は&2, even though none of the crossings were named は&anything.
I tested this glitch with renamable stations with similar results. Alphanumeric characters only. No foreign characters.
