Need help changing my auto/cars...

I am still watching and will help out where/when I can.

Alberte, that file is very interesting. I think I have worked out what it is for now. That file, if set up with our own cars (vintage ones) then it will override the default ones of TRS once we select the Geographical region. So in effect we could have 6 of these files, one for the US, one for Britain, one for European countries, one for AussieLand etc all with different cars. Is this right??? If so then any layout (a US one) we make and use this Geographical region on will have these settings, our next layout (a US one) will go back to the default cars if we do not specify a particular Geographical region, is this right???

Right, Graig. The only requirement is having the cars installed. It works for me. For you, it should.

Good night,

Alberte

OK, after fooling with this for two days, now I now have no cars at all in my route nor any cars with a new route created.

I lost all my cars!:'(

I'm PMing you, zatovisualworks. I need help...

:Y: Hi, Rick.

Here you are... Your Vintage U.S. Region Asset...

Download --> http://web.ibertrainz.eu/descargas/vintage_us_region.cdp

us_region_1.jpg

Instructions for everyone interested:

1. After installing and committing, open TRS2006.

2. In Surveyor, New Route --> Region --> Vintage United States

3. When you set up a road, 15 different whecsailor's superb vintage cars will run over it.

Those are:

car0 <kuid:67261:29014>
car1 <kuid:67261:29000>
car2 <kuid:67261:29001>
car3 <kuid:67261:29002>
car4 <kuid:67261:29003>
car5 <kuid:67261:29004>
car6 <kuid:67261:29005>
car7 <kuid:67261:29006>
car8 <kuid:67261:29007>
car9 <kuid:67261:29008>
car10 <kuid:67261:29009>
car11 <kuid:67261:29010>
car12 <kuid:67261:29011>
car13 <kuid:67261:29012>
car14 <kuid:67261:29013>

Your mistake was that you omitted line car0 ;)

Those cars should be installed in your TRS (Do not worry, CMP will show missing assets if not all of them installed -the whole set are on the DS, great job by whecsailor- )

4. Remember that traffic density only depends on the carrate tag on the config.txt of road you are using. The lower (minimun 3) the denser.

5. Clone and modify it as many times as different period cars you need.

6. You could also change the default lever appearing on junctions by changing the kuid number on the config.txt tag:

defaultjunction 100634

7. For existing routes -after installing this region- their config.txt tags region should be changed into "Vintage United States" or type <kuid:86311:1900>.

8. Have fun and enjoy it!

Alberte

This looks all so sweet and nice BUT, I still have no cars on my route. It's not working for me.:'(

I started a new route and it works. THANKS but not an existing route. I'm going to add the kuid numbers down at the bottom as instructed by another poster to see if that will do it.

Gosh, those cars look wonderful. Thanks, whecsailor.

Thank you, too, zatovisualworks for all this work. You are a model to the community around here. (I've seen your help elsewhere in other threads.)

Rick

EDIT: Yah Hooooo!!! I discovered the secret to my problem. Typing in the name, "Vintage United States", doesn't work. I have to type in the kuid number and it WORKS! This is the kuid number I had to use, <kuid:86311:1900>. I got it from the test route I made to check the cars in. My routes don't have region names, they have region kiud numbers instead.

I NOW HAVE CARS! YAHOOOOO!!!!!

Thanks again for all your help.

Rick

Even though you have started your route David there are still some things you can do with the trucks and cars, it is not to late.

I will have a look at what I have that you may like, but it will take me a little time. Hopefully I can let you know tomorrow.

Do you want modern cars and trucks or old fashion ones?

@dnutter,
You called my cars, YUCK??? Just joking:D:D:D

It looks like seeseeme is going to help you but what you need to do is download all the cars and trucks you want to use because they need to be on your PC to use their kuid numbers. So, pick 20 of your favorites and download them.

The next thing you will have to do is replace the kuid numbers in the region config file you are using for your route with the kuid numbers of your favorites. It's really that simple once you understand it.

Here is a screenie of my re-skins of whecsailors old time cars in my route. I'm using vatovisualworks region he posted on page 2 post #25 and had to replace whecsailor's car kuid numbers with my re-skined kuid numbers to make it work.

I'll let seeseeme take over from here if you're still confused.

Rick:)

Hi David, I may be out for a little while today, its Pay Day today for me so I need to do some shopping. Anyway, I have many cars in my content and I will try to pick the ones you may like. The only problem is that some cars, trucks etc go backward :hehe: and I/we do not know why. So I will find some for you and test them, if they do not go backwards I will give you a list for you to look at and then show you how to put them in the Config file that is mentioned here.

Hi David, I am still working on this but I had a problem. I picked out to many cars and it seems this will not work them. So I have to change the cars you may want. I also found 2 trucks and some vans you may like. Once I know this will work I will post again.

The way Alberte has shown for the changes and the little program/layout he did works great if you are starting a layout but when you have already started one you need to add lines into the Config File. This is what I am going to help you with.
