I am looking at my WCL sectional routes and discover all the point motors are now missing...!!

It is not possible to put a new one in as they just stay all red both sides and refuse to work so I need the old ones that I can then delete and replace..

Here are the assets:-
One is UK point Motor kuid 67906:24166 and now classed as 'Unavailable' on the DS.
Second is Lever kuid 36713:23300 by emges who I believe is no longer around and there is no way of getting in touch.

Can anybody help me please?

Angela

Both of those are actually built into TRS2010 so you shouldn't need to download them at all, have a look in yout CMP for them.

I suspect that an extended database repair may sort the problem.

Those kuids are available to TS12 users only on the DLS, I've just tried and managed to download them both.

Hi and thanks for posting,
But I am afraid 2004 doesn't do a database repair, that has to be done manually.... ha ha. I should have said the version.

But I solved the problem. I found that by 'cutting' the track at the point and so getting 3 seperate track ends and then joining them up again allowed me to put in a point lever, or switch lever if you like and are on the other side of the Puddle.
All I have to do now is go through the whole of 2 setions and find every switch (which we Brits call a point, maybe because it points the train in the right direction, but I have mo suggestion as to how that name came about other than that).

Blessings,

Angela

Glad to hear you solved the problem, Angela. I'd been thinking it over and was actually going to make the same suggestion this evening - having found through experience that the red arrows disappeared when I cut the track.

Yes, we do call 'turnouts' 'points' in the UK, but I think that is just model-railway-speak (which I've spoken for many years). Strictly speaking, the technical prototype name is turnout; the 'point' is the 'point' at which tracks diverge by means of the 'switch blades', and what is commonly called by us UK modellers the 'frog' is strictly speaking the 'common crossing'. (The name 'frog' is said to have come from the similarly shaped part of a horse's hoof, also called 'frog' by the equestrian fraternity - nothing to do with the amphibian.

But who cares? What matters is that the trains follow the intended path ...

Yes the version would have helped...you have TRs2010, why not save them to cdp from there then load them into TRS2004, that would save the manual work?

Hi again,
Thanks for your explanation of the word point Ray, I can see how turnout would be more appropriate.

However, and the real reason why I am posting again is that the 'cure' I thought I had found wasn't... All the turnout motors stayed correctly coloured until I went into Driver and then they reverted to just red again and Trainz crashed right out every time.
Having pondered it for some time I tried changing the track and so far that seems to be working, but only with the yard type of lever being set in automatically by the program. Grrrrr.... But I have had a loco run which is a step in the right direction.
And at last after many attempts a loco has obeyed commands from Reading.
Then another odd problem appeared. Set up a route to travel a loco to a Marker but the loco just stood there looking daft, well at least Trainz had not crashed. So I used Stop Train (or whatever it's called) to exit the setup and used manual acceleration. Off went the loco and kept going for some distance as I kept trying every now and then to get the AI system to carry it there by going back to Contiue Schedule. Suddenly after Slough that cut in again and off went the loco.
Then it hit a red signal... I waited for it to clear but it didn't so again came off AI and then went straight back into it again without moving the loco by using Continue Schedule and the loco worked again... weird... that's all I can say, weird!!

The change of track seems to be working in general so it might mean having the completely remove and relay over the complex turnout arrangements as a train comes into Slough It might also mean relaying the approaches to Reading as well but I'll do that when I come to it.
But with the length of route and the very complex track layout at Paddington I can see this being a very long job....!!

But it's interfering with my shooting... ha ha.

I think you're still having problems because Trainz thinks there already is a lever at the junction, you can't see it because for you it is a missing asset. In my experience the quickest way of solving this is to the install the missing assets to TRS2004 and you have from TRS2010 according to your info.

If for some reason you don't want to do that, other things you could try is using the replace assets facility in Trainzobjects to remove the missing assets and auto fit one of your choice. That should take about 15 minutes to redo the entire route. If you don't have the procedure for doing this let me know, I've used it in the past many times in TRS2004 and it works very effectively.

Is the problem extensive or limited, if extensive why rebuild all of the turnouts manually?
