Nature Screenshots! (BIG and NUMEROUS pictures!)

Welcome back Casper, ~snip~

Thanks for the welcome back Deane. Very kind.

Your cows as burgers? Perish the thought!

The beer bottle will be gathering green algae somewhere in the long grass, probably next to the white derelict car of yours. The bottles are a difficult to place in long shots with no close up features to sit them on, but rest assured, you have not seen the last of them.

I’m still playing Forum catch-up reading through several weeks’ worth of posts with interest, but did see your new efforts with the floating detritus. Good potential there I reckon. I remember using your puddles to similar effect.

I sincerely hope you draw the line at floating biological effluent though. The thought of your cattle wading through such material (just going through the motions:D) doesn’t seem quite right somehow.

Flat items, such as oil slicks might be good though.

~snip~ Just one question - what's the big yellow lump on the bridge?? ~snip~

Thanks Andy!

From memory the kuid description was, “Brick on wheels, yellow, merkin”

Further up the baseboard

Fantastic! I love how you always manage to contrive a splash of colour through an arch, and I did spot the other trademark's comeback!

Thanks guys.

Andy, the colour splash through an arch way (or trees, or street end etc.) is a little focal trick which I like to use to add depth and interest in a trackside camera view.

I’m still building that bit of my route, but there isn’t really much in the background – deliberately done to keep good frame rates. Once that bit of baseboard is completed with a little more texturing I’ll be clearing away the unused trees, bridges and embankments which I had been trying out to see which combination best fitted the scene. They are still cluttering up the surrounding area!

Here’s a closer shot of the view through samplaire’s bridge, followed by the true scene of devastation, typical of a work in progress!

Cheers
Casper

I must have spent countless hours on WIP routes just trying to line up a screenshot with no 'devastation' - or more likely just grid - in the background. That's probably why most of my shots are taken from low down in the weeds LOL

Andy :)

Got a WIP route still without a name, more of a small town / rural shortline, been playing with undergrowth splines to see if they affect framerates.

Hey Bob, good try but this is more than difficult and these trees not look to bad but if you don't mind pls try some pofig trees on the same subject and compare if you feel the old ones do better nothing lost just my personal feeling with different trees you could get different results.
your friend
Roy;)

Thanks Roy: The real problem with the trees..I'm not to fond of payware material, it kind of grates my soul to pay for something when it should be with the game..

Bob, Pofig's trees are freeware. There is also a good selection of excellent freeware SpeedTrees on the DLS by mcguirel and gawpo50.
