Casper I run out of superlatives when commenting on your screenshots, but that would have to be one of the very very best. The composition around the three central buildings and the big green trees is superb, as is the foreground framing. Definitely a calendar shot!

I always look forward to your contributions to this thread, you never disappoint!

Merry Christmas

Andy :)

Thanks Frédo and Andy for your kind words. I enjoy your work and contribution to the Trainz community and always look forward to seeing your posts.

Trainz is an immense enjoyment for me, with most of my spare time spent Route building in Surveyor.

It’s always a joy building the next section and creating the little scenes for the cameras, often before the rails get laid in the non-prototypical areas. It’s rare that I’m really satisfied with the result though; I can usually see something that could have been done better when I look at them after posting! I suppose that is what motivates to try to improve and figure out some new ideas.

I’m always flattered when people make positive comments, although I think there are plenty way ahead of me

Thank you again for your kind remarks.

Very best wishes to everyone for Christmas and the New Year.

Cheers

First post on this thread! A re-routed Amtrak train heads up Walong siding. A blanket of fog covers the valley after a light dusting of snow. :D

Thanks gearhead2578 for your kind words.

I find the assets inspirational, and am ever grateful to all of the creators for their hard work and patience in creating all of this stuff. It’s always a joy to use such fine and carefully created pieces of work.

I can imagine the tireless hours every one of them must put in to create these assets.

I always try to do them justice by placing them as best I can in each of the fixed or tracking cameras viewfinders. You need surprisingly few to fill the frame on a mid range shot. It always looks as if there are far more than there really are, which really helps the framerates.

One of the tricks to make them look real is to place them at just the right distance from the viewpoint. Too close will emphasise the polygons and/or blur the textures; too far away loses the detail.

I’m currently working on one of my Italian routes. Here a shot in part of an old yard.

I hope there's not too much rail hardware for a Nature shot!
