Nature Screenshots! (BIG and NUMEROUS pictures!)

Very true. At least David Drake's Tall Trees series (or at least the "Perfect" higher-poly sub-series) is being updated to TS2010, so therefore you would not lose control of your trees completely with that taking place. ;)

Your screenshots ought to be enough to teach some users that you do not need TS2010 to achieve making the prototypical route down to the ity-bity details; TRS2004 is just as capable and has not died yet! :D ;)

Regards.

;) IMHO trainzers must take into account that billboarded greenery is built up entirely with photo-realistic textures -as Casper states above- and that gives a special taste of 1:1 life. Leaf close-up can be magnificent on TooMuchSpeedies, but at a certain distance they tend to become bulked and featureless. IMO.

The other day some of us were 'nagging' at Jan (Jankvis) friendlily
porrazo.gif
:hehe: for telling us that his wonderful billboarded greenery was good for the far distance, which prompted me to show him this...

...covered with one of his splines on a T10 scene. At the middle distance you can see a mixture of billboards and TooMuchSpeedies.

:hehe:;) No more far distance commentary from him... Good old Viking Jan. :p

The billboarded side of Alberte

By the way, Casper, where did you get those cow models? They look so realistic, and the varierty of poses is great. :D ;) Hopefully, they are not on the DLS, how ever. :o

Thanks.

Dinorius_Redundicus is the correct spelling if you are to do a DLS search.

He's made much more than just cows.

My advice - get the lot. Deane is one of the masters of the art who has moved (moooved!) the Trainz sim forwards, probably as much as, if not more than, a lot of the software changes.

I'm always immeasurably grateful to Deane and his fellow contributors.

Better post a screenshot, lest we end up like many other SS threads with 10+ chat posts between pix . :D

Another one from my Italian route. Apologies for placing a train in the Nature thread. No speedtreez though!:p

Hello Dave,

Thank you for your brief but very inspirational comment - from one of the greatly admired masters of the art of asset creation too!:o

Your trees, IMHO, are amongst the top three groups which I love to use for landscaping work in my Surveyor routes – UK , Central Europe “various”, and Italy . No Mediterranean route should be without those great stone pines and poplars, and the DHR washing lines of yours!

The asset creators deserve huge credit for the enjoyment of this simulator. I am so pleased that I was able to discover Trainz, purely by chance, two and a half years ago.

There would have been satisfaction enough in building with what came packaged with the game. The ability to download from what was a constant stream of new assets transformed it into an immense pleasure.

To all of the great creators, have a virtual beer on me.

I’ve left one on the wall!

Cheers
Casper

A small offering from south-east England

Super pics, everyone. I often find building the scenery more absorbing than running trains. I often get out and go for a walk...

A Sussex Bluebell Wood, seen from the trackside between Heathfield and Horam...

Where did you get the bottle of beer in the picture

The shadows from the bottle and glass are a really nice touch Casper. I can't think of any shadow objects that small, but at the same time, I know you are against photoshopping screenshots (apart from speech bubbles!), so I'm curious as to how you got that effect.
