Narrow Gauge Point (Switch) Levers

Vern

Trainz Maverick
Doodling around more than anything else in Surveyor this morning with a possible NG project. Noted that two different track types I experimented with were not automatically placing the junction lever when connecting splines, although this option is checked. Is this normal behaviour with ng track as I have no problem with forming junctions complete with levers on sg track (though I normally change these to something more in keeping with the prototype)?

Hi Vern

Seeing that Trainz don't know - or care for that matter :) - the gauge at all of the track, I highly doubt that is the reason.

Maybe it is in the config for the track spline, maybe it is a programming difference in Trainz reading those particular configs in a different way then others, I don't know, but, you have made me a little curious though. :)

Could this be related to a setting in the Region part of the route, I seem to recall in the older days we could put in a default lever in a Region asset, and then that was used for all junctions in the maps using that region.
Maybe the lever there is missing, or points to a kuid you don't have?
Jut guessing really. :)

Best of luck figuring it out, I will keep and eye on this thread, hoping to learn some more about the inner workings of Trainz at least, thirsty for knowledge, or as I like to look at it, curious like a cat... LOL

Except I dislike the cat right now as she dragged a live bird in, and went on to catch it again inside the house...
In the end, she managed, took the tail of the bird, then the body, but, she left it on the floor, and I managed to put something on it, and we got the bird out, and it flew of so I think it went OK in the end. :)

Take care

Linda

Vern, can you give the kuids and I'll have a look. I've used most NG track at one time or another without any problem.

The one that's in there now is 3ft light brown by Elvenor, KUID 63290:38050.

Not sure on the previous one as I swapped it out, not being entirely happy with its appearance.

The Region is set to Hungary as I felt this was most suitable being based on a Yugoslavian route but I should probably have stuck with Germany.

Yes it does behave strangely with no lever - but - if you select the set junction option and click on the junction the lever appears and all is well. Strange. Also it seems that if there are other junctions already present it behaves normally.

It may be something to do with the way it was made, I don't know and, sadly, Elvenor is no longer with us to help.

What 3ft track would you recommend John, either built in or on the DLS? It needs to do very tight curves, down to 40m radius, without looking jagged so that immediately rules out the built in Auran 3ft track.

Quite honestly I don't know as I don't do much in 3ft. Without looking through all that are available, the best advice is to look for ones that come in various spline lengths, e.g. 2m and 8m. You can then use the 2m spline for curves and the 8m for straighter lengths. When I get a moment I'll have a look through and see if there is anything.

I've actually found some good stuff in 760mm gauge which seems to be very well catered for.
