So then, the question is.... has no one purchased Trainz or more important...registered their purchase since August 16?

Perhaps Auran-Admin has a problem that needs fixing.

Have fun,

Wow, a whole fifteen days since someone registered a product with N3V.

Stop trying to find fault with everything.

Matt.

Well, search the mmber's list for all users who joined after 2011-08-16 (August 16). I get 3,207 results.

I think that I know why this is broken.

Go to Fooly's profile, http://forums.auran.com/trainz/member.php?u=900009. Note the number 900009 at the end of that Web address. That is his user number in the forum database. The Planet Auran database uses user numbers also, and the user numbers for a particular user between the two databases should be the same. In this case, however, since Fooly's account was not created automatically in the forum database when he registered, and his account was later apparently added manually to the forums, the user numbers are not in sync, not to mention that the Fooly's forum profile's join date is incorrect.

Here is the link to Fooly's Planet Auran profile: https://www.auran.com/planetauran/view_profile.php?ViewingID=575612. Note his user number in the Planet Auran database from that Web address, which is 575612, and the fact that his real join date is June 24, not August 16.

The forum administrators need to somehow sort this out to get Fooly's forum account in sync with his Planet Auran account in these areas, I believe.

Regards,

Retro.

Thank you Retro.

I do hope that you are not trying to find fault with everything as mentioned in post number 2.

Well Matty, there does appear to be a problem.

Next time, try thinking before making a snide comment.

My apologies to you, Aardvark.

Woke up in a bad mood, and took it out on someone who is only trying to help.

I'll be crawling back into my hole, now.

Matt.

Wow, and after I apologized for my comment, too.

Not cool.:n:

Maybe the mods could lock this before it gets out of hand?

Matt.

@Engineer_Brouse: I do not see where Ron complains about everything. Please support your claims by providing some evidence.

Retro.

I think this whole thread is Faulty!

:D
Retro, that was some fine sleuthing you did there. You have proven to me two things. One, there is indeed a problem. Two, you and Ron have entirely too much time on your hands :p. Ron; I wouldn't even have noticed that had you not pointed it out!

Retro, don't you think the community already does enough for this game? Next thing you know we'll be maintaining the database for the them as well!

I'm not surprised that the two community databases don't match up. One can register for the forums without having a registered version of TRS. However I'm pretty certain only people with serial numbers can register for Planet Auran.

Ed and Retro...

Yes, I do spend a lot of time here.

The reason, my wife of 45 years is partially disabled and I need to be with her almost all day. That said, as I sit with her, I read and notice things.

And yes, Retro did a great job in sorting that out.

Ron

@PerRock: I personally do not think so. It appears that an account is automatically created on the forums for each new Planet Auran registration. The Register button at the top of the page (not the Register link in the welcome message for people who are not logged in) links to https://www.auran.com/planetauran/register.htm. Perhaps someone at N3V can clear this up.

@Ed: LOL. I do have plenty of spare time on Friday and the weekends, but the rest might be a good amount at times, but other times not so much: last week or so, I was not on the forums for a few days! "Too long; didn't read" certainly applied to the big pile of posts that was there for me, I would say! :D

Anyway, N3V would have to have a lot of trust in a community member to even consider giving them such a privilege to administer the database, and I certainly am not worthy of such a privilege. :D

P. S.: thanks for the compliments.

Regards,

Retro.

I have to agree with aardvark, definitly something is wrong,

I've noticed over the past couple of months now, that new members can appear on the forums, eventhough they have not registered there trainz product, who is to say that the odd new member may have an illeagal copy of the game, and that is why they cannot register there product, but can still access the forums for help and advice,

I know they might struggle to get onto the DLS, but in this day and age, everything is hackable, I think N3V need to look further into this, just in case there are illeagal versions available.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the heads-up. I've passed your comments on to our admin.

Just FYI, we do not block unregistered users from our forums site as a whole- only specific product support forums require product registration.

kind regards,

chris

I always understood that unregistered viewers could only access the General Forum. I'm sure it used to be so in the early days. No wonder I have been puzzled over non-registered posts in other forums.

All you have to do to see what the great unwashed hordes can access is to log out. It's not much.;)

Wow! I am a bachelor and am truly in awe of someone like yourself. Does your wife enjoy being informed of forum banter and possibly watching TRS in action as well?
That would be so cool if she also got some amusement from it 8^)

Thank you for your kind comments.

I do show Kay some posts and discuss some Trainz posts. Just the funny posts, not others.

No, she does not really have the same enthusiasm for Trainz that I have, but she tolerates my playing.

Again, thanks.
