Mutiple Industry Track or What??? (and how?)

I want a track that does the following:

Consumes "Palette of Goods" and produces "General Goods"

I thought I had set one up, but while it will consume the palettes, it won't produce the General Goods.... I can't find anything that even remotely resembles a "users manual" for the Multiple Industry track (or Multiple Industry New... Just what the lleh is that anyway?)

There are tutorials around, but while they take you step by step to set up the track they don't explain what the various setting MEAN or DO.

I'm stopped from the start, I use multiple industry basic since multiple industry new seems too much like rocket science to me. Multiple Industry Basic has a long section for "consumes every minute" and below that a section for "produces every minute" (has to be configured in the session, not the route, in case you were unaware). I see general goods in both lists, but no "palette of goods" in either list. Which multiple industry track and which freightcars are you using?

I'll have to look tomorrow to tell you, but the palette of goods is the load for some B&O boxcars I have... Now that I think of it, the MI Basic doesn't seem to work any better for me. I'm not mental, I just need some #$&*((*&^#$ documentation....

No argument here, I'm pretty good at connect the dots but with Trainz the dots start at 48 49 50 51 skip to 97 98 99 so I don't have a clue what I'm looking at half the time. Testing with a flatcar, the first load in the multiple industry track is containers, so that's what it loads with unless I set those to produce zero. Drive a train of flats loaded with lumber up to the track and it unloads the lumber and just sits there - gotta move off the track section and back on to load, then if it's loaded it unloads it. Probably the best way to deal with the situation you're talking about is to use two of them, one to unload and the next in line to load. Or possibly two different tracks so you have to back into one to unload logs, pull out and back into the other track to load lumber or whatever.

That's what I'm afraid of... It breaks the prototype unfortunately. Freight would come in from PRR and B&O (pallets of goods in my case) and be unloaded at the freight depot. Then they would bring in their old turn of the century 38' boxcars and load the goods (general goods in my case) and load them into their own boxcars before running them up the line.

Loading and unloading happened on the same track.

Of course the process was reversed for cargo leaving the Ma and Pa as well...

Tis' a puzzlement...

There is a very big range of BI2 industry track available now. Have a look thriugh them to see if one will do what you want. I have modified a couple of them so that they handle both the product being delivered and the product being despatched, however I realise after doing that they can't be included in a route that is going to be uploaded.

Thanks Class66.

There is also this:

Take the free download option.

The major advantage of MIN is that it will it can be configured to load and unload all the commodities in the Trainz folder.

Phil

Again, it describes how to set a track to load, and another to unload.

By all APPEARANCES (and maybe I'm wrong about this) you should be able to set up one of these tracks to unload one thing, make a new thing, then load that new thing.

I think, my opinion, that the ProtoLars & BI2 industry tracks are more flexible to set up and once configured can be placed multiple times along the route. The big advantage of the MIN is in-game set-up/configuration.

Just my pennies worth,

I had dropped off 3 cars worth of Palettes, which you can see in the bottom. However, the "1 minute till full" and Zero quantity of "General Goods" remained like that for a full half hour. :(

It won't unload and load on same track at the same time...you have to set another M.I.N track further down the line to load or you have to take a second pass on the first M.I.N track to load ...

It would have to be a unload then load...unless two different products are used

(i hope i may be proved wrong but i did ask about this a while back)

Don't know about the BI2 industry tracks that John [JohnnyC1] said

I do know Multiple Industry New can load as may different commodities at the same time as you have queues setup.

But you'll also have to set these different commodities to each wagon/s.

The commodity screen from a BI2 and ProtoLars industry track. The l/h is a BI2 which is set to produce the r/h photo is set to consume and can be set up to consume at a set time after placed at the unload area. The Protlars on the r/h will unload all of the cars with out all of them being moved over the unloading area. The BI2 on the left will load one car at a time in AI or three in DCC. If you move the car as in recoupling they will load.

*facepalm*

Hang on a tick.

Does the track have to LAID in the session layer? Do you have to manually change to the session layer before setting the options? It suddenly occured to me that I was laying it in surveyor while on the route layer, setting the options, then saving the route and session. I was assuming that as long as I ran the session I saved it would work, but now I'm wondering if I'm wrong about that.

Yes, I grabbed 3 boxcars with palettes and drove them to the depot and unloaded them. Then shunted them aside and ran up to the yard to get the M&pa empties to be loaded. Once I hooked up to them I "4" cammed back to the depot and right-click/details and got the screen showing in my screen shot. I waited another 15-20 minutes and checked again and it still said the same thing.

Cars are assigned correctly. (as you can see from the icons beside the commodities)

Tell me exactly what you are trying to do and I'll set up a MIN to do it.

eg for freightcar x:
Load y
Unload z

Is it any more complicated than that?

For 40' Boxcar, Unload "Palette of Goods"
For 36' Boxcar, Load "General Goods"

General Goods are made from a equal tonnage of Palette of Goods.

I'd like to see what you set up and see if it matches what I have. I deleted the original and replaced it, and it now *appears* to be working correctly.... "Baltimore Depot" shows on the waybills as wanting "Palette of Goods" and when I feed it, it slowly consumes the "Palette of Goods" and creates "General Goods".

What does "Duration" and "% of Waybill" do?

Hi frogpipe,

Duration is the time the industry takes to consume or produce the quantity you set. % of waybill means the industry will issue a waybill when the stock gets down to the set level 50% or whatever you set. However having said that, I have noticed that some of the basic industries will not start to consume until they are full, nor will they produce until they are empty. I think it's another thing that Auran/N3V have fixed that wasn't broken.
