More Highland Shots

I just got back from my friend's wake, and I'm an emotional wreck, so I'm going into Trainz to get my mind off things. A wake, what a wonderful way to start spring break, lol, but anyways, onto what to expect in tonight's shots. DuBois Rail Lines took delivery of a new Chicago Interurban, the GP7 set with the LIRR MP54s as well as the two RDCs have been put into storage on the DRX deadline in Greenwood. Amtrak services have been suspended after a lawsuit from the EPA regarding to unused catenary and diesel power on the line, and finally DRX leased some NJT equipment as well as purchased a pair of rare BL2s and traded in it's break down train for several bilevels that were sitting in the yards outside Chicago Union Station. More surprises to come! Get those drool mops ready!

Just a teaser... (Sorry about the delay)...

On the left are the Greenliner twins which the DRX recently acquired in a deal that included the Silverliners. On the right is ex-NYC E8 and PA, now owned by the DRX from an order error. The original order was for an ex-FEC and ex-W&W BL2s secondhand from a scrapper in Pennsylvania. The BL2s were delivered by the two ex-NYC units and the units were to stay the night in Greenwood. The next morning DRX received a call from the scrapper, which told DRX they were going out of business and that all four units were now property of DuBois Rail Lines. The locomotive operations and maintenence superintendant checked them out and now all four units are being put into service. As mentioned before, DRX took delivery of several pullman-standard bilevels found outside Chicago Union Station unused for quite some time. The ex-FEC BL2 is run long hood first on branch shuttles with an ex-Amtrak coach and cabcar. The ex-W&W BL2 is run long hood forward with an ex-CNW coach and cabcar on connecting services to Lumby from Greenwood. The NYC units run express services with three ex-Metra coaches and a cabcar which call at Lumby, Greenwood, and terminate at Highland, bypassing branch stations.

It's almost 9:30 PM and the last express of the evening prepares to depart Lumby.

More on the way!

sorry for the loss. who ever died. lets see some screens.

He's greeving right now, this is not really an appropriate time right now, put yourself in his position, i mean everyone loses someone close, but its a young person, let Jesse accept his loss, trainz are less important than friends.

On the tracks further down from the DRX Commuter Station is the road's RS3, #529 donated to DRX by the Railroad Museum of New England some time ago. 529 is used on excursions with a trio of ex-NYC heavyweights and an NYC N7a caboose. DRX uses the tracks as storage and layover tracks before they diverge with the mainline again.

The express passes the interurban terminal where a pair of South Shore EMUs layover. The platform crossing barriers are closed at night to deter trespassing.

On the opposite side of the tracks is Amtrak's Lumby Express Center, which deals with material handling and baggage exchange. While a switcher and some material cars are usually present here, all equipment has been removed pending the EPA law suit.

Tomorrow we'll take a run on an-off peak interurban and take a walk around Lumby. At Greenwood we'll step off and visit the new DuBois Express Rail (DER) which uses leased NJT equipment to (temporarily?) cover Amtrak's absence in the area.
