Model Railroadz

Using this as a way to get an idea of what my layout will look like when I build it for real.

Itareus - that's beautifully put together.

Thanks, I've been working on this for a long time now and I'm working up the detailing which, I think, adds massively to the scene. I've also made a good few assets specially for the route, most of these have been released to the DLS but there are more to come.

That's why I bought Trainz 2006 (in late 2005) - the LGB indoor & garden layout has not been touched for years as a result :o ! Trainz has the additional advantage of being very, very much cheaper than LGB in the UK :) .

@ acelaamtrak

I like the non layout finishing touches to your railway room, they give the layout a context. Would you mind telling me the KUIDS of the carpet and bunk bed assets, I can't find them on the DLS?

Chris

First serious attempt at a model layout....thanks to all the creators for their "big" items...... still very much a WIP.....small tram route in the basement....

Chris, the carpet is probably from JR's Model Railroad package found in their freeware section. As for the bed, that is from Trainboi1's Trainz Forge model railroad pack, found in their scenery section near the bottom of the page. He also has a nice SP turntable and roundhouse there that would look great on a model railroad.

Keep on truckin',

Thanks for the information.

Superb shot Felix_g.

Deane, I reckon the little bits of detail make a bit difference e.g.the Fire Hydrant, Mailboxes, flower tubs. They help complete the picture but consciously we don't even register them.

Thanks guys!

Deane, actually I think it's your tree shadows adding a substantial portion of atmosphere - that alternation of sunlight and shadow we perceive but usually don't pay attention in real life.

Another thing helping to look convincing may be the terrain being sloped in any direction. Even the train is climbing a 1 percent grade, the paralleling street has the same grade although barely noticeable from this perspective.

Apart from that Stevo sums it up quite nicely (no, not the master title :)), selecting suitable assets and arranging them in the 'right' way is something essential, and usually that takes me a lot of trial until I'm happy with it.

Once again, terrific work felix.I can see the continuation from your previous screenshot. It's so good you can't see the joins.I spend a couple of weeks and the end result is a cartoon then you produce something like this.....it's heartbreaking lol......fantastic work sir.

I've decided to get back into the model trainz stuff again, so here's the first little bits. Fresh route and all!
