Mechanical bells or Electronic bells

Which would you preffer.(Please describe the type of mechanical bell or electronic bell you like examples: WCH or a General Signals,etc.)

I like both my favorite types are the WCH,WRRS,and Safetran mechanical bells and General Signals type 2 as my favorite electronic bell.

Meh. Electronic Bells are very annoying, and useless. They're just pre-recorded bell sounds added, and played on a speaker. "because people that lived trackside didnt like the sound of the bells.."
Personally, i like the Mechanical Bells, very nice set ups they are.

I agree I don't like electronic bells either but I'm use to 'em now since there's a lot of them around the US. The main reasons for electronic bells is because they don't tire as easy as mechanical bells and it weighs less and cost less.
 
I assume you guys are talking about the bells mounted on locomotives and not level crossings. If that's the case, I like mechanical bells, until sometime in the 1960's most German steamers (and I believe one diesel) were required to have their bell going whenever they ran over a level crossing. Unfortunately not very many locomotives in Germany now have bells as most were removed well over 40 years ago, still, I can't help but enjoy the loud ringing these bells made when the engineer decided to use them. A truly unforgettable sound.
